Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone, collectively known as a series of unlikely celebrities such as Justin Timberlake, Adam Levine and Michael Bolton.
With three albums under their belt, The Lonely Island took to the big screen in 2016 with the same music mockumentary formula popularized by This Is Spinal Tap, Popstar saw the Lonely Island portray the "Style Boyz," a successful band that implodes after one member (Samberg) loses control of his ego. Despite forming over a decade ago, The Lonely Island only played their first live show last year but have since been confirmed to appear at the 2019 Bonnaroo festival.

The Lonely Island's output has been somewhat limited in recent years, perhaps largely due to the Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and while the band has always remained active, the days of star-studded music videos being ed to YouTube sadly seem to be over.
As such, this new tour announcement is sure to delight The Lonely Island's U.S. fan base and is a positive sign that the group are still interested in pursuing new creative avenues, despite their decreased activity. As a live act, The Lonely Island have already attracted a positive reception after first taking the stage at last year's Clusterfest. This was despite itting to having reservations about whether their act, essentially a pastiche of the entertainment industry, would work on stage in front of a live audience. According to reviews, The Lonely Island managed to navigate this problem effortlessly and even threw in some guest turns from the likes of Michael Bolton.
Having gained more experience as a live band, The Lonely Island's forthcoming tour dates are likely to improve upon their positive stage debut last year and, if this limited run proves to be a success, a full world tour may not be too far away.
