The successor and sequel to 2014's Lords of the Fallen, the latest release is an enormous improvement over its last-gen counterpart. While not without faults, Lords of the Fallen has been praised for its exceptional graphics, impressive world design, and for offering an innovative take on the all too common Dark Souls-esque genre. Though they are all visually cool, some are undoubtedly harder to deal with than others.

9 The Lightreaper

Lords of The Fallen First Encounter with The Lightreaper Tutorial Boss

Whilst the Lightreaper is an early-game tutorial boss, he is nevertheless a pretty difficult foe to defeat during any of his appearances throughout a run-through of Lords of the Fallen. The Lightreaper is a versatile boss and has two main strategies for inflicting damage - mounted and on foot. Whilst mounted on his dragon, the player must avoid dive and fire breath attacks. Although this sounds difficult to survive, the Lightreaper is even more deadly when on foot - whilst dismounted, the Lightreaper boss can make easy work of the player with his two razor-sharp blades and his mastery of close combat.

8 Judge Cleric, The Radiant Sentinel

Judge Cleric, The Radiant Sentinel boss in Lords of the Fallen

Judge Cleric, the Radiant Sentinel, is one of the most challenging bosses encountered in Lords of the Fallen. The battle against this boss cannot be avoided and comes in two stages: the radiant phase and the immensely difficult dark phase. Equipped with a spear and a longsword, Judge Cleric, the Radiant Sentinel, has incredible reach and speed — a combination of abilities that make her a nightmare to deal with. Judge Cleric, the Radiant Sentinel's move set is typified by ranged and AOE attacks, consequently the best way to deal with her attacks it to observe her patterns and be patient.

7 Sundered Monarch

Sundered Monarch boss in Lords of the Fallen

The Sundered Monarch, beyond a challenge, is one of the coolest designed bosses in Lords of the Fallen; although remarkably difficult, the boss battle against the Sundered Monarch is extremely enjoyable and quite possibly the best battle in the game. Unlike many of the game's incredibly limited bosses, the Sundered Monarch has an expansive move list, and despite being difficult to defeat, he is one of the most fairly balanced bosses in Lords of the Fallen.

6 Harrower Dervla

Subjugating Dervla Boss Battle Lords of the Fallen

As a result of her two-stage boss battle, Harrower Dervla, the Pledged Knight, can be a particularly challenging boss, especially in the second phase of the battle. In stage one, she will employ a crossbow and a short sword - nothing that can't be reasonably easily parried; however, this first stage is made slightly more challenging when the boy chained to the altar begins firing projectiles at the player. The second stage sees Dervla become an exponentially tougher boss, with an expanded move set and a notable increase in speed and power.

5 The Hushed Saint

The Hushed Saint Boss Battle Lords of the Fallen

The Hushed Saint is among the most irritating bosses to battle in Lords of the Fallen, primarily because there are significant periods where the player simply cannot target or hit him. Although certain other bosses more heavily exploit this broken gameplay mechanic, it is nevertheless super frustrating. Beyond this, the Hushed Saint is a very difficult boss to defeat even when the player can hit him. The Hushed Saint, although encountered early in the game, has incredibly high power and an impressive range. Consequently, defeating The Hushed Saint can be a challenge, both in patience and skills.

4 Congregator Of Flesh

Congregator Of Flesh Boss Battle Lords of the Fallen

The Congregator of Flesh is an enormous and grotesque adversary that can be encountered in the Forsaken Fen as players attempt to get across a rope bridge. Although the boss battle is partially difficult due to the monolithic size of the Congregator of Flesh, it is the beast's poison attacks that are perhaps the most dangerous weapons in its expansive arsenal. The best way to deal with this boss fight is to stock up on vials of antidote from an NPC near the Forsaken Fen prior to attempting this challenging battle — otherwise, this can be an almost unsurvivable boss battle.

3 Tancred

Tancred e Reinhold Lords of the Fallen Boss Battle

Tancred is, from a cosmetic perspective, thematically perfect for a game like Lords of the Fallen. An imposing warrior clad in powerful armor and in possession of an unparalleled mastery of magic. This boss battle is in two stages: first, Tancred Master of Castigations, and second, Reinhold The Immured. Although the first stage can give the unprepared a challenge, it is the second stage, in which Reinhold possesses Tancred, that is ridiculously hard to beat. Reinhold The Immured is a ferocious boss who fights in an animalistic manner that is difficult to predict and even harder to survive.

2 Infernal Enchantress

Infernal Enchantress from Lords of the Fallen surrounded by fire.

Although Infernal Enchantress is a visually spectacular boss, the player should not stare too long as this incredibly fast adversary can easily dispatch the unready. Beyond blinding speed, the Infernal Enchantress also has an extremely OP area of effect and can reach the player in little time and with even less effort. This boss battle is in two stages; in the first, the Infernal Enchantress will employ holy-type spells, and in the second fire, type spells. As a result of its range and speed, the Infernal Enchantress is undoubtedly one of the most challenging bosses in the game.

1 Pieta, She Of Blessed Renewal

The Lords of The Fallen Pieta, She of Blessed Renewal Phase 1 Boss Cutscene with Holy Sword to Defeat

Although the difficulty of each boss in Lords of the Fallen will depend, to some degree, upon play style and experience with similar games, the first boss encountered in the game, Pieta She Of Blessed Renewal, is undoubtedly one of, if not the hardest boss battles in the game. Though she has a limited move-set, Pieta can prove to be a challenge, primarily due to her ability to create clones - this, combined with her speed and the difficulty posed when attempting to dodge or parry attacks, makes Pieta, She Of Blessed Renewal one of Lords of the Fallen's hardest boss battles.
