Each companion comes with a pair of two ive skills, called Pet Effects. Players can spend crystals with Pet Management NPCs, to reroll for the two bonuses. The Pet Effects are only active while the companion is summoned and can offer powerful boosts to stats, such as a 5% increase to Max HP. As mentioned before, pets also serve as Lost Ark's way of implementing an auto-loot function into the game. Enemies drop many items upon defeat and clicking on each individual piece of loot would be unreasonable. Only one pet can follow the character at a time, but stored pets also serve a purpose in Lost Ark.

After completing the King Thirain ark of the main story, players are rewarded with the Stronghold. Adventurers can use this facility to craft helpful items for their journey. Players can also send out a group of NPC crewmates on seafaring missions for rewards, returning after a set period of time. Every expedition has a specific element, and sending a character with the same affinity, will increase the chances of obtaining rare items. Each pet comes with an elemental type as well and can go on these missions with the crewmates. Having multiple companions can be very useful in obtaining rare rewards. Similar to map completion in Lost Ark, the Stronghold gives adventurers a break from questing, while still being a vital part of progression in the game.
