Josh Holloway is having something of a resurgence thanks to his new show, Duster, and he has now weighed in on whether he'd ever consider a Lost's six-season run, going from a self-serving and antagonistic character to a more considerate and heroic figure.
Despite Lost delivering a definitive (albeit divisive) ending back in 2010, the possibility of a reboot has repeatedly been raised. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Holloway was asked his thoughts on a revival. The Lost alum seemed ambivalent about the idea, expressing doubts that a reboot would ever happen. However, on the off chance that the ABC series does have a comeback, he itted he'd happily be involved:
"I don’t know? I don’t have any feelings about it because I don’t believe they would do that. I would be in –of course, why not? But I feel like that show’s ending … I’m solid with loss and closure. It’s been the most amazing experience and has the longest legs in the history of a TV show, it seems like."
Holloway went on to discuss how Lost continues to bring in new viewers, something its presence on Netflix contributes to. "So it’s interesting to have people come up to you with their daughters or sons and say, 'I watched it 20 years ago, now I’m watching it with my son or my daughter.' That’s special." Clearly, the ABC series' legacy is enduring, even without a reboot or revival.
What This Means For The Possibility Of A Lost Reboot
It Doesn't Sound Like A Lost Revival Is In The Cards Any Time Soon
Although Holloway doesn't seem closed off to a Lost return, it doesn't sound like a revival is likely to happen — at least, not any time soon. It certainly doesn't appear to be front of mind for Lost's original cast. Given the nature of the series' finale, that's not surprising. Although several characters survive the ending, it's hard to envision a natural way to continue their stories. Unless Lost embraces a proper reboot, rehashing the series from the beginning or focusing on a new set of survivors, it would be very risky.
The continued interest in Lost does suggest there's potential in some sort of revival.
Of course, even starting over would prove a challenge, considering the popularity of the original show. The continued interest in Lost does suggest there's potential in some sort of revival, assuming the creators could find a believable way to make it happen. Judging by Holloway's comments, as well as the fact that a Lost revival hasn't cropped up in the past 15 years, it's not a priority for the ABC series' cast and crew. It's comforting to know that an original star like Holloway would be open to returning, however.
Our Take On Josh Holloway's Lost Reboot Comments
His Sentiments Are Comforting, No Matter What Happens
Holloway's Lost reboot comments are a relief for fans who don't want the series to continue, as well as for those who are hoping for a resurgence. The actor doesn't rule out the possibility of a revival, though his words confirm that one wouldn't be taken lightly. They suggest that both the creators and cast are fine with leaving the series as-is, meaning they wouldn't reboot Lost without a good reason. Regardless of your feelings about a potential return, that's a promising takeaway — especially at a time when it feels like everything is being revisited, even titles better left alone.
