Nintendo has fully Luigi's Mansion 3, which adds new content to the game. The additions to the ScareScraper mode aren't great, but the three new ScreamPark games make the Multiplayer Pack a worthy purchase for fans of the original game.

is an excellent game, but there are some fans who wish that there was more single-player content in the game. Nintendo has only announced multiplayer DLC for the game, the first of which is available now. The ScreamPark mode already has some amazing minigames and its existence makes it easier to recommend the game to those worried about its short runtime.

The first multiplayer DLC update for Luigi's Mansion 3 adds three new costumes with associated floors for the ScareScraper mode, along with a twenty-floor mode for the players to experience. There are also three new minigames in the ScreamPark mode, in the form of DodgeBrawl, River Bank, and Tricky Ghost Hunt.

New ScareScraper Content

Luigi's Mansion 3 ScreamScraper Outfits

ScareScraper is a multiplayer mode in Luigi's Mansion 3 that allows teams of up to four players to explore a version of the hotel from the main game, where each floor has a random task, such as catching all of the ghosts, saving all of the toads, or collecting as much cash as possible. It's now possible for the player to wear one of three new outfits in the mode, in the form of Groovigi, Mummigi, and The Green Knight. The outfits don't grant the player any new abilities, but they will ensure that a floor based on the outfit appears in a ScareScraper run, as well as a chance of themed-ghosts appearing, but these changes are mostly aesthetic and don't drastically alter the gameplay.

The new content comes in the form of a twenty-floor mode, which is a mammoth length of time for a single game of ScareScraper, considering that each floor can easily take four or five minutes to finish. There are also some new themed ghosts that can appear during the run as enemies. It's a nice addition to the game, but the length might be a bit too much for most players. An hour or two is a long time to be playing ScareScraper mode, even with the new content, as it's much better served as a chaotic party game.

Note: When playing ScareScraper online, the player can experience the new content in the mode by ing a game with people who purchased the Multiplayer Pack.

DodgeBrawl

Luigi's Mansion 3 Dodgebrawl

The highlight of the three new ScreamPark games is easily DodgeBrawl. In this game, assorted fruit and explosives drop from the ceiling. It's up to the players to use Luigi's new Poltergust to pick up and fire these items at the opposing team and deplete their health. It's possible for teammates to revive each other, but they will be exposed while doing so.

DodgeBrawl is an absolute blast as a party game and it will put friendships to the test, as players need to rely on each in order to survive. The people who have already played Luigi's Mansion 3 will have an advantage over those playing the game for the first time, due to Luigi/Gooigi's strange controls/movements, but once everyone is caught up to speed it becomes an incredibly fun game.

River Bank

Luigi's Mansion 3 River Bank

River Bank is easily the hardest game in the Multiplayer Pack to master. The game is played on a river and players are floating around in dinghies that can be moved by blowing/sucking with the Poltergust. The aim of the game is to collect more coins than the other players before the time runs out, but if their boat is popped by a stage hazard of if they fall off the waterfall, then they lose all of their coins.

The unconventional control scheme for River Bank makes this game tricky to master, even for people who have experienced the boat sections in Luigi's Mansion 3. Once everything clicks, then it becomes just as fun as DodgeBrawl. River Bank is a game that demands players grief each other by bouncing them into hazards or preventing them from avoiding logs, all in a desperate bid for survival. The only complaint is that victory boils down to everything that happens in the last ten seconds of the match. The ability to somehow bank coins might have opened more strategic possibilities throughout the match, rather than everything relying on a last-ditch effort to grab and keep coins. With all that being said, River Bank is an excellent party game.

Tricky Ghost Hunt

Luigi's Mansion 3 Tricky Ghost Hunt

Tricky Ghost Hunt is the weakest of the three new ScreamPark modes, but it's still a lot of fun. The aim of the game is to defeat as many ghosts as possible in order to earn points, but segments of the floor become electrified throughout the match and stepping on one removes points from the player. This game might be a little too chaotic, as it's hard to avoid s due to Luigi's attack animations having a slow start-up/end lag, making it tricky to avoid being shocked. Fortunately, the game throws a lot of ghosts into the room and power-ups appear throughout the stage, so it's a game that favors offensive tactics over strategy, making it another great party game.

There is still another multiplayer update coming to Luigi's Mansion 3 in the future, but the first wave of content has made the Multiplayer Pack worthy of purchase. The additions to ScareScraper won't win over any new fans who weren't interested the first time around, but the new ScreamPark games are excellent and are easily the equal of anything in the Mario Party series. The Nintendo Switch is home to some of the best local co-op games of all time and the Multiplayer Pack is a must-have purchase for people who love playing games on the couch with their friends.
