Peacock's action-comedy series Will Forte starred as the title character, while Kristen Wiig played Vicki St. Elmo. The recurring sketch was a big hit among SNL fans and was eventually made into a cult classic film in 2010.
Now, Deadline confirms that Zane will play the villain in the MacGruber series. Zane is known for his roles in Titanic, The Phantom and Dead Calm. Mickey Rourke was initially cast in the role but has since been recast with Zane for an unknown reason. The villain that Zane will now be playing is named Enos Queeth, who is "mortal enemies" with MacGruber as per the official character description. Enos Queeth was thought to be dead but he returns with a vengeance and a desire to take over the world.
Zane s a well-versed cast. Forte, Wiig, Ryan Phillipe and Timothy V. Murphy will all return to reprise their film roles for the Peacock series. They are also ed by Laurence Fishburne, Sam Elliott and Joseph Lee Anderson. MacGruber is set to hit Peacock in late 2021.
As per the official series description, "after rotting in prison for over a decade, America’s ultimate hero and uber patriot MacGruber (Forte) is finally released. His mission: to take down a mysterious villain from his past—Brigadier Commander Enos Queeth (Zane). With the entire world in the cross hairs, MacGruber must reassemble his old team, of Vicki St. Elmo and Dixon Piper to defeat the forces of evil."
