Everyone is excited about the Spotify Pie chart application, but can Apple Music s get one too? With an application made by UCLA student Darren Huang, Spotify s can generate a pie chart that breaks down the genres they've listened to in the past month. In addition, the tool generates a list of artists the has listened to. This means Spotify s don’t have to wait until the end of the year for Spotify Wrapped to share what music they are listening to most — they can just take a screenshot of the chart to share on social media.
Unfortunately, the Spotify Pie application doesn’t work with Apple Music, and no one has created a comparable tool for that specific app. The easiest way Apple Music s can see their top listens is through the app's ‘Top 25 Most Played’ playlist. This is a collection of music s have listened to the most for their entire time on the app, and not just the month or year. Another downside to this is s can not share it on social media.
Other Ways To See Your Apple Music Artist & Genre Lists
While the lack of a Spotify Pie equivalent is a bummer for Apple Music s, there are other ways they can see an overview of their listening habits. Apple does have a similar tool to Spotify Wrapped called Apple Music Replay, but it doesn’t have as many features or social media-friendly charts. It is, however, available year-round and builds over time. It generates a playlist of the 100 songs a listened to the most in a given year, as well as a list of artists.
Apple Music listeners can also turn to Last.fm for more detailed data and insight into their favorite music. The app offers “scrobbling” — or music tracking — for most of the major streaming platforms, including Apple Music. s who link their s will have weekly, monthly, and yearly stats at the ready, and be able to see their top artists, albums, and even how many minutes of listening they’ve logged. Apple Music s should know though that it only works with music they’ve added to their library.
It’s no surprise that fun, shareable content like Spotify Pie charts keep going viral — these days if something is not shared on social media, it didn’t happen. One might wonder why people stick to Apple Music when they could have more exciting features on Spotify, which is the most popular music streaming platform. Apple Music has its perks too, though, like exclusive content and live performances. Apple Music is also connected to s’ Apple ID, so it may just be a convenience to use this service. And some people are all-in on Apple products, so they might be more likely to use Apple Music over Spotify.
