In classic RPG fashion, Mario & Luigi: Brothership allows players to select from a few special skill attacks during the turn-based combat. These are battle abilities which come in addition to their regular attacks and have a greater chance of causing heavy damage, but also come at a cost of BP. These Bros. Attacks use the two brothers together to pull off a unique move, which often defy any realistic possibility of happening, but sure looks cool.
While playing through the main campaign of Mario & Luigi: Brothership, the brothers will get new Bros. Attacks from time to time as the story warrants it. Each Bros. Attack costs BP, which can be replenished by using certain items such as Syrup, or resting. Many of these Bros. Attacks also feature some nostalgia for longtime players, whether by reference to previous Mario & Luigi games, or simply iconic features of the Super Mario universe.
The number one skill on this list comes with a spoiler warning!
10 Green Shell
Luigi's Special 5 BP Bros. Attack
The first Bros. Attack abilities that players get happens after returning to Shipshape following connecting Rumbla Island's lighthouse. The Green Shell move is learned by Luigi, while Mario gets the Red Shell attack. These are fairly traditional moves featuring the Koopa shells which have been seen before, but are also comfortable and familiar, bringing some consistency of the Mushroom Kingdom to Concordia.
The Green Shell Bros. Attack is selected by Luigi and costs 5 BP to use. Successfully performing the move requires good timing from the player, as they must press the correct buttons to have Luigi and Mario kick the shell as it approaches them. Once kicked, the shell hits one of the enemies and bounces to the other brother, continuing a couple times until Luigi does a power kick to finish things off.
9 Red Shell
Mario's Special 4 BP Bros. Attack
The Red Shell Bros. Attack is what Mario gets at the same time Luigi is taught the Green Shell ability. The Red version costs only 4 BP, but is a fairly similar mechanic to the Green Shell style. Players press the correct buttons at the right time to trigger either Mario or Luigi kicking the shell, ultimately leading to Mario performing a powerful kick at the end.

Mario & Luigi: Brothership Could Be The RPG Revival The Franchise Has Sorely Needed
Mario RPGs haven't always been consistent, but Brothership provides a big opportunity to finish the recent process of righting the course.
Unlike the Green Shell attack, the Red Shell is ed between Mario and Luigi rather than striking an enemy in between each kick. As they are ing the shell, it is picking up momentum and getting more powerful, and the brothers are inching closer to the enemy line. This attack will only hit one enemy, but will do a pretty decent amount of damage, and is a fun one for players to do.
8 Clockout Blow
Mario's Special 12 BP Bros. Attack
Clockout Blow doesn't become available until Mario and Luigi are abou to go exploring on Wayaway Island, and is one of the more expensive attacks with a 12 BP cost. It is a very cool time-bending attack which freezes time temporarily so Mario and Luigi can rush around at high speeds to knock out enemies, and will target all the bad guys rather than just one.
Because of how fast the brothers seem to be moving, players have to have their wits about them and pay close attention while the attack is taking place. The camera will focus in on an enemy with the screen grayed out to show that time is slowed, and either Mario or Luigi will quickly rush in and be ready to swing the hammer. Players have a fraction of a second to press the correct button for which bro is there, but if successful, can do a lot of damage quickly.
If players get every prompt correct during the move, the final enemy will be launched into the air for additional damage.
7 Zapperator
Luigi's Special 7 BP Bros. Attack
Not only does Zapperator do a lot of damage to all enemies on the screen, but it has an extra cool name to go along with it that is truly just a fun word to say. Zapperator is one of Luigi's special attacks, and it is given to Luigi by Technikki just before the journey to Lottacoins Island.
Zapperator costs 7 BP to start and will have Luigi and Mario quickly taking turns to charge up a massive thundercloud. It can be a bit tricky to get the timing right, as hitting each button too fast will cause the brothers to stall, but too slow can make the cloud not as large as it could be. After it is charged, players have to hit X before the timer runs out and the large dark cloud above the enemies will release some bright and flashy lightning over the battlefield to hopefully take out the bad guys.
6 Bomb Derby
Mario's Special 10 BP Bros. Attack
One of Mario's coolest Bros. Attack special moves is the Bomb Derby. Costing 10 BP, Mario will give Luigi a large stack of lit bombs before taking a batter stance with his hammer. Luigi quickly tosses each bomb to Mario and players must time the swing just right to launch each explosive at the enemies. The move will hit all bad guys, with the last bomb doing a substantial amount of damage with a fireworks-style explosion that is fun to see.
Unfortunately, getting to that last bomb can be tricky and require excellent timing on the player's part. Because of this, Bomb Derby is a great choice for attack to use along with the Auto Excellent Battle Plug, as it can be a bit difficult to get just the right timing, but is so much fun when players can get to the last bomb in Luigi's stack.
5 Jump Helmet
Luigi's Special 9 BP Bros. Attack
Luigi's Jump Helmet and Mario's Bomb Derby are both unlocked at the start of the quest The Glohming Begins, and are both really fun and silly moves. The Jump Helmet has a cost of 9 BP and will only target one enemy, but can do a lot of damage to that enemy when it lands.

Mario & Luigi: Brothership Could Be The RPG Revival The Franchise Has Sorely Needed
Mario RPGs haven't always been consistent, but Brothership provides a big opportunity to finish the recent process of righting the course.
Jump Helmet is simply a really fun attack to use, and can be a bit less challenging than some of the others. Mario puts on a perfectly ridiculous and neck-breaking hat that features a giant spring platform on top of it. Luigi then launches himself off of it and players must send Mario chasing after the airborne brother to catch him with the helmet. Players not only must line up Mario for Luigi's landings, but then need to press B to launch Luigi into the air once again.
Eventually, the brothers get close enough to the enemy that Luigi can smash down on top of them, becoming a Luigi cannonball, and doing a good bit of damage.
4 Max-Mix Vortex
Luigi's Special 14 BP Bros. Attack
Max-Mix Vortex is the last Bros. Attack given to Luigi and comes with a cost of 14 BP to use, which isn't that hard to do at the late stage of the game when Luigi gets the ability, but it is still costly. It uses the brothers abilities of fire and ice to create a beautiful and colorful tornado of damage to all enemies on the screen, and can apply burn or ice damage to the bad guys if they survive the attack.
Essentially, Fire Mario and Ice Luigi must have perfectly timed throws of fire and ice in a beautiful spinning circle. Once they are done, the circle continues into a massive tornado with Mario and Luigi spinning at the heart of it and directing it around the field to hit the fleeing enemies. Using the Auto Excellent Battle Plug on this one can be fun for players to just sit back and enjoy all the colors and coolness of this move.
3 Yoo Who Cannon
Luigi's Special 12 BP Bros. Attack
Luigi's Yoo Who Cannon attack can be a bit of a memory game for players, but when done successfully it is a strong move for hitting all enemies. When the ability is selected, several Mario and Luigi's will hop into an assortment of barrels and give the player a moment to try to who is in which barrel. As each barrel is ready to fire, players must press either A for Mario or B for Luigi.
If the player is correct in selecting which brother is in the barrel, then that character will launch out of the barrel at the enemies and then collect in a larger barrel at the back. After all the Marios and Luigis have been launched, the large barrel that has been collecting them will fire as well, with a larger cannonball of Marios and Luigis spinning together to hit all the enemies on the screen.
2 Hatch Me If You Can
Mario's Special 7 BP Bros. Attack
The beloved green dino friend, Yoshi, is not a part of Mario & Luigi: Brothership at all, or even referenced other than with this Bros. Attack. In Mario's Hatch Me If You Can move, the iconic green and white egg is used as a volleyball with Mario and Luigi diving for it and spiking it into the air. Apparently, Yoshi does not seem to mind being used as a sports ball, as he is happy to help when he emerges.
Making this attack even better, when Yoshi breaks free of his egg high up in the air, he performs his Yoshi Bomb ability from Super Smash Bros., complete with the same sound effect. This is a wonderful little easter egg inside Mario & Luigi: Brothership, and a very effective move as well.

1 Conductor Connector
Mario's Special 15 BP Bros. Attack
As Mario and Luigi get nearer to the final battles, the Great Conductor bestows upon them the special Bros. Attack, Conductor Connector. This is one of Mario's abilities and costs 15 BP to use, calling upon the might of the legendary god, the Great Conductor himself.
