Arkane Lyon has revealed a new Blade game at The Game Awards 2023. The title will follow Marvel's iconic vampire hunter on an adventure in Paris.

The trailer for Marvel's Blade, which is now available on Marvel Entertainment's YouTube page, didn't give too much away about the game's story other than its location and first glimpse at its protagonist, showing the Daywalker at a barber shop before being called into action and preparing his sword. It did, however, state that the title will be M-rated, and further comments made during The Game Awards confirmed it will be a single-player, third-person action-adventure game.

Blade shines by applying Bleed to enemies in Marvel's Midnight Suns, dealing damage when the turn is over. His deck needs to maximize this status.

Despite the character's popularity, Blade hasn't had a solo game since the poorly received movie tie-ins for Blade and Blade 2 in 2000 and 2002, respectively. The character has appeared in team-up titles such as Marvel's Midnight Suns, but many were hopeful that he would get the spotlight in his own game again at some point. Rumors circulated that Ubisoft was making a Blade game as recently as 2022, although Ubisoft was quick to debunk this.

Unlike the aforementioned games, Marvel's Blade will be taking place outside of America, as its story takes place in a quarantined area of Paris during a “supernatural emergency” where vampires are terrorizing the night. Arkane Lyon's co-creative director Dinga Bakaba talked ionately about bringing the character to the studio's country when discussing the game at The Game Awards, stating "We couldn’t be happier to put players in Blade’s boots, as he becomes the champion of my hometown of Paris, one stake at a time."

Unfortunately, there is currently no release date set for Marvel's Blade. The game is in early development, meaning that it likely won't coincide with the 2025 movie reboot of the character as he enters the Marvel Cinematic Universe, played by multiple-Oscar winner Mahershala Ali. However, considering Arkane's mainly brilliant track record with story-driven games such as the Dishonored series, Blade fans should have plenty to look forward to whenever it does release.
