Marvel fans are abuzz over a suggested Young Avengers series coming 2025 after hints by Marvel's editor-in-chief C.B. Cebulski, but later clarifications make it clear that's not quite what's coming down the pipeline. Cebulski teased characters such as Kate Bishop, Patriot, Hulkling, and Wiccan would soon enjoy a reunion. However, since this announcement, there has been some conflicting information from Marvel Executive Editor, Senior Vice President of Publishing and X-Men Group Editor Tom Brevoort that this isn't a Young Avengers series.

"I can break some special news here," Cebulski teased in comments at Osaka Comic Con reported by Popverse. "The Young Avengers will be reuniting in 2025 in Marvel Comics. There have been two Young Avengers teams, but now we’re deciding which characters for natural story reasons are going to the new Young Avengers team. Kate-Hawkeye, Patriot, Hulkling, Wiccan…who is going to ? You’ll see [in] 2025!"

YOUNG AVENGERS LED BY AMERICA CHAVEZ

This quote by C.B. Cebulski strongly suggested the Young Avengers would return in a new series, with a new roster taking characters from both past teams. However, it's now been clarified in no uncertain that the young heroes aren't getting a new series. So what is happening?

The MCU has teased an team of young heroes, so what if Marvel is using their comic reunion to alter the team's name?

In response to C.B. Cebulski's comment, Marvel Executive Editor, Senior Vice President of Publishing and X-Men Group Editor Tom Brevoort via his new Captain America: Sam Wilson series, and the other Young Avengers are still floating around, but there "isn't any plan at the moment for a new YOUNG AVENGERS series." This does ruin some of the excitement, but don't give up hope yet.

Brevoort finished by saying that plans could change at any time and if the Avengers editorial office thinks they've got a story that would be successful, then something could happen. As far as Brevoort's aware though, there aren't plans for any Young Avengers series.

Of course, just because there won't be a Young Avengers series doesn't mean Marvel has no plans for the characters. The team could still appear as ing characters in another series, or could get a dedicated one-shot or annual. It's also possible some Young Avengers icons will unite under a new codename. Indeed, if that is the case, it could be a major indicator of MCU plans.

In the past few years of the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe), several young heroes have been popping up across different MCU entries. Some of these young heroes have been part of one of the Young Avengers teams from the comics, while others haven't had the honor. At the end of The Marvels, written and directed by Nia Dacosta, Ms. Marvel is seen recruiting Kate Bishop for a team, asking her if she thought she was the only kid-superhero in the world. Marvel's synergy means that the comics often make changes to remain familiar to movie fans, so what if this 'kid heroes' project isn't going to be titled Young Avengers?

While recruiting Kate Bishop, Ms. Marvel also mentions Cassie Lang aka Stature. Some other young heroes in the MCU include Wiccan, Skaar, America Chavez, Patriot, Kid Loki, Falcon and Ironheart.

It's possible that the Young Avengers reunion teased by Cebulski will introduce a new name for the group, potentially debuting a concept that's planned for the MCU instead of using the 'Young Avengers' name. So while a new Young Avengers series almost surely isn't coming anytime soon, it does seem the iconic characters are heading for some sort of reunion, and possibly one that will indicate the fate of Marvel's next generation in the MCU.
