Season 2.5 update, and while it's only content creators and media who've gone hands-on with the character, it doesn't seem like the wider playerbase are impressed with his current offerings.
Ahead of his release, some fans are feeling there isn't much incentive to pick Ultron. In a Reddit post by NocturneEdge, blanc_megami notes: "There's no reason to pick him." Most of the negative reactions seem to be stemming from Ultron's underwhelming healing potential and his team-up with Iron Man, with players noting the team-up should have been a part of Ultron's base kit.
The Fan Reactions To Ultron Aren't Very Positive
He Feels More Like A Duelist Character
Ultron has been labeled as a Strategist character, but from the gameplay seen so far, his healing appears to be lacking. Marvel Rivals might have an issue with homogenizing the Strategists, but with only one healing ability outside his ultimate, some fans feel like Ultron may end up being a bad pick regardless of team compositions. Several Redditors are suggesting his primary fire should heal, in addition to doing damage, which is actually possible with his team-up ability with Iron Man.

Marvel Rivals: All Season 2.5 Team-Up Changes Explained
Many changes are coming to Marvel Rivals in Season 2.5, especially to Team-Ups, with some new ones being added and others disappearing forever.
Other players note his lack of healing prowess, but are still excited to play him, with defensive gameplay of Mr. Fantastic was a mix between a Duelist and a Vanguard. Ultron has little damage fall off at range, is the only flying Strategist, and has infinite range on his primary fire.
It's A Little Early To Call For Buffs And Changes
He Isn't Out Yet
While the concern about Ultron and his play in the game is definitely valid, it might be a little quick to call for buffs and reworks. Similarly, after Human Torch was initially revealed, fans felt like he was going to be too strong, and until he saw some buffs later, he was widely considered one of the weakest characters in the game once he was released. Marvel Rivals has a lot of depth for team compositions, so once he releases, fans are going to find new tech and uses for him, even if they may not be strong.
How useful Ultron is in the game remains to be seen, but his mostly negative first impressions aren't a good sign. Luckily, developer NetEase Games has been quick to listen to player , so we may see adjustments to Ultron before his release or shortly after. But fans of the character will still probably be happy to see Ultron the extensive Marvel Rivals roster later this week.
