Blade's lead of the Structure is continuing its vampiric descent against the Avengers. While Thor is a powerhouse, he will have a shortcoming that will put him on a proverbial clock.

Blood Hunt #5 has the creative team of Jed MacKay, Pepe Larraz, Marte Gracia, Fernando Sifuentes, and Cory Petit. The crossover event has presented the Avengers with a conflict among their own as the vampiric influence expands to other Marvel heroes.

In the case of Thor and Blade, the fight will be god against god as the leader of the vampires and the god of thunder confront each other. However, Mjolnir isn't in the right spot when the fight begins, putting a caveat in the Avenger's typical combat style.

The God of Thunder Has a Major Disadvantage Ahead

In the preview for Blood Hunt #5, Clea and Doctor Strange confer with Doctor Doom, while the Avengers have a face-off in Central Park. However, the highlight of the preview comes on the last page with Thor prepared to take on Blade. With Mjolnir too far away from him, the god of thunder will need to hang tight against his foe until it arrives, granting him his usual power-up. Though it's not unheard of for Thor to fight without his hammer, there's no question of how powerful he is when he's wielding it. The synopsis for the issue is as follows:

Doctor Strange is presented with a dread bargain to gain a chance to save the world. The Avengers ride into a battle they cannot win. The dead battle the undead across the globe. Will it be enough? Will the world be saved, and how will it be changed if it is? Featuring a dramatic shift for the future of the Marvel Universe!

Marvel's current vampire apocalypse marks a milestone in the blood-lusting group's objectives as they unite with a common goal. It's proving to be one of the Avengers' most dangerous threats, particularly since Blade has turned against them after being a long-term ally. While a Thor and Blade match-up is already interesting on its own, the god of thunder having to bide his time enough for his hammer to return from orbit certainly ups the ante. His superhuman strength, speed, and reflexes, along with his standard combat abilities will be his best chances at holding off Blade.

Blade vs. Thor is Marvel's Biggest Blood Hunt Match-Up Thus Far

Though it's not unheard of for Thor to fight without his hammer, there's no question of how powerful he is when he's wielding it.

It has been established that Thor is the god of thunder, not a "god of hammers." However, Mjolnir is a huge help in channeling his power, especially since it was reforged, adding to his damage potential where his enemies are concerned. Against Blade, Thor will need every tool in his arsenal. Blood Hunt continues to increase the dangers that Marvel's iconic heroes are facing as one of their own turns against them in his quest for vampire domination. In a fight of god versus god, Blade and Thor is a headlining match in this high-intensity Marvel Comics event.

Blood Hunt #5 will be available July 31 from Marvel Comics.

Associated with the mythical realm of Asgard, Thor is a Marvel Comics hero who channels the power of thunder to slay their foes. Though the name is chiefly tied to Thor Odinson, several other characters also take on the role of God of Thunder, including Odinson's love interest, Jane Foster. Odin is portrayed as a physically imposing hero with incredible strength and typically wields the dwarven forged hammer, Mjolnir.
