She-Hulk Fights for the Fate of the World (and Love) in Final Issue
The fate of Manhattan is on the line, but so is She-Hulk's love triangle with Jack of Hearts and Scoundrel. This series finally reaches its zenith!
Jack Has To Be Radioactive To Touch She-Hulk
Due to the nature of Jack of Heart's radiation-draining powers, he can't physically touch the lean, green lawyer without hurting her. However, in She-Hulk's finale, after absorbing a bomb to save New York, Jack learns that he can touch people if he absorbs enough radiation at once. Sensational She-Hulk, immediately establishes they've continued testing this new discovery, with Jack venturing to the most radioactive places on Earth just to briefly get the opportunity to kiss She-Hulk. In this case, the reference to Icarus from Greek mythology is more than just foreshadowing – Jack is quite literally getting too close to highly dangerous sources of power.
Jack of Hearts has been spending a lot of time absorbing untenablle loads of radiation, for the sake of his relationship, but this could prove to be his downfall if he overdoes it. To briefly shift to another hero from another company, a similar situation befell the Man of Steel in All-Star Superman, where the title character's overexposure to the sun nearly killed him, despite the sun being his biggest source of power. A similar fate could be waiting for Jack of Hearts. Or worse, his overexposure could put someone his love, Jennifer Walterrs, in harm's way, resulting in a situation that could cost Jack his life.
Recklessly Experimenting With Radiation Could Be Jack's Undoing
In Sensational She-Hulk #1, Jack mentions to She-Hulk that he doesn't want to risk giving Jen's neighbors radiation poisoning, which is presented as a joke, but is also a valid concern. Further, it doesn't look like Jack's radiation intake will be stopping anytime soon. It may even increase, given the issue's ending, where Jack backs away when Jen instinctively tries to touch him. Jack might try to increase his dosage of radiation to fill the growing hole in his relationship, but too much of a good thing can have major consequences. The closer that Jack of Hearts gets to She-Hulk, the closer he is to fulfilling his own death sentence.
