Warning: This article contains major spoilers for Marvel's Eternals.
Eternals centers on ten superpowered beings who have been protecting Earth from Deviants for thousands of years. With the number of team , there are some great action sequences that showcase the various powers they possess. Whether the fights take place against the Deviants or between the Eternals themselves, certain brawls are more exciting to watch than others.
Some carry more dramatic weight, while some feature some better choreography and cinematography. In any case, the best action sequences from Eternals are some of the most enjoyable parts of the film, and a few moments stand out above the rest.
Kro In London
After centuries of believing the Deviants were gone, Sersi and Sprite, along with Sersi's partner Dane, are confronted by Kro, who emerges from the water. Since Sersi and Sprite's powers are not inherently combat-based, they focus on protecting the citizens of London as the Deviant tries to attack them. The creative uses of their powers are interesting to watch, and the battle also provides some funny moments surrounding Dane, who is out of his element and unsure of what to do. However, despite his ineptitude at this moment, some believe that his inclusion in Eternals could drastically change the MCU.
When Ikaris arrives to help and fights for a bit, Kro retreats into the water, foreshadowing the Deviant's importance in the story to come. Compared to other fights in the movie, this one is less impressive, but it sets up the plot to locate the other Eternals and stop the Deviants while also creating an awkward reunion between Sersi and Ikaris.
Outside The Gates Of Babylon
In a flashback to hundreds of years ago, the audience jumps in mid-battle in a fight between the Eternals and the Deviants outside of Babylon. Certain enemies are relatively easy to defeat, and Kingo even cracks jokes while he prepares to attack one. The fight culminates with Gilgamesh fighting one-on-one with the strongest of the bunch, which puts up a significant fight.
This battle helps to illustrate that the Deviants vary in strength, and based on the battle in London from the modern day, the audience is made aware that some may be quite difficult to defeat. The immediate moments after the fight are more dramatically impactful than the fight itself, but the battle is still entertaining to watch.
Thena Vs. Kro
Something comics fans know about Thena is that she has a long history with Kro, but the movie handles things quite differently. After the rest of the film teased Kro as being an incredibly dangerous foe, the Deviant leader and Thena finally square off against one another. The fight is brief and limited in its scope, but the dramatic portion of this fight is what makes it so captivating. In an attempt to lull Thena, who is experiencing the effects of Mahd Wy'ry, into a false sense of security, Kro uses the words previously spoken to her by Gilgamesh, whom Kro killed.
Upon the Deviant trying to finish her off, Thena strikes back, killing the enemy that has been hunting her and her fellow Eternals for the entire film. The moment is satisfying after all the audience has witnessed Thena go through, and it puts an end to the threat of the leader of the Deviants.
Thena And Mahd Wy'ry
In a wooded area outside Tenochtitlan, while discussing the morality of their role in the world, Thena's eyes turn white and she attacks her fellow Eternals. Before being subdued, she injures several of her friends, and it is discovered that she has Mahd Wy'ry, a condition caused by the vast number of memories she holds.
This condition makes her forget the current time she occupies, which can lead her to lash out at those around her. Though no one was killed in the combat, this brief scene demonstrates how powerful Thena is and the dangers that are presented if she unwillingly turns against the Eternals.
Opening Battle
The opening battle of Eternals starts when a Deviant attacks a man in Macedonia, killing him instantly. This immediate death shows the audience that the attacks from these enemies have real consequences. The heroes then arrive and battle the Deviants, with each showcasing their powers and giving the viewers a feel of what to expect from the team.
Though this is not the most exciting fight in the film, it wonderfully introduces the characters concisely and naturally. Since the announcement of the Eternals film, many fans have wondered why they did not take part in previous events in the universe. This opening fight demonstrates that some of them would have been very useful against Thanos, but their reason for not interfering is disclosed later in the movie.
Eternals Vs. Ikaris
After it is revealed that Ikaris is fully committed to allowing the Emergence to occur, several of the other Eternals attempt to stop the event, but they must first stop Ikaris. Through the comics and film alike, Ikaris has been shown to be one of the most powerful of the Eternals, making the prospect of incapacitating him seem unlikely.
However, the battle that ensues proves that the other can more than hold their own against the powerful being. The anguish in their task is evident, giving this fight both emotional weight and great action.
Fight In The Amazon
Trying to reunite the Eternals to stop the Deviants, several approach Druig in the Amazon, where he has been living. After being there for a short time, the team is ambushed by several Deviants, led by Kro. An epic battle takes place in several different locations across the area, and it finishes with Sersi using an ability she did not know she could and Gilgamesh being killed by Kro.
The fight convinces Druig to the Eternals in their quest, but the cost of the battle provides one of the saddest moments of the film. Upon killing Gilgamesh, Kro becomes stronger, solidifying the danger the Deviant presents.
