Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is coming to PC on January 30, and with it will likely come a series of new mods. While not everyone likes playing with mods that drastically change gameplay, ones that add new cosmetic outfits can be a lot less intrusive. Spider-Man 2 is the perfect game for this style of mod, thanks to the countless Spider-Man suits from Marvel’s history.

The base version of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 already includes many suits for the two main heroes thanks to the team at Insomniac Games. However, there are still some suits that would be great to see added to the PC release, including suits from the first Marvel’s Spider-Man game that were originally left out. Some obscure comic outfits would also be fun inclusions, as well as movie versions from both the MCU and the Spider-Verse world.

10 Peter B. Parker Should Appear With Spider-Verse Animation Effects

Other Spider-Verse Suits In Game Emulate The Movie's Animation Style

Some of the Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 are the Spider-Verse suits. These stand out, not only because the Spider-Verse movies have such unique designs, but also because they include animation effects that mimic the sometimes choppy nature of the films. While these suits are great, there is a notable exclusion that modders could make up for when Spider-Man 2 hits PC.

Peter has a Spider-Man Noir suit from Into the Spider-Verse, but there is no skin for Peter B. Parker. Peter B. might not be as visually distinct from the typical Spider-Man, but he is one of the film’s principal characters. It could also be a lot of fun going up against Venom or Kraven in a pair of stained PJs. A Peter B. Parker suit mod would be even better if modders could emulate the animation effects from the other Spider-Verse costumes in the game.

9 Miles and Peter Should Both Get Their Captain Universe Suits

Both Spider-Men Have Been Captain Universe In The Comics

Captain Universe is an interesting character in Marvel Comics. Unlike most heroes, Captain Universe is not one person but an entity that can empower any hero in the right situation. A hero empowered by Captain Universe has their appearance altered to reflect their new cosmic powers. A mod for a Captain Universe suit could be a great choice for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 because both of the game’s protagonists were Captain Universe at some point.

There are a few fun reasons to include Captain Universe in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. First, the game’s new jet stream mechanics essentially allow its Spider-Men to fly, a power also granted to them when they were Captain Universe. The suits also both just look neat, with glowing constellation patterns on them which could make for some cool lighting effects. Having them both wear the costume would also be fun for cutscenes as it would make Peter and Miles look like they were wearing matching uniforms.

8 Miles Morales As Prowler Could Tease Beyond The Spider-Verse

Miles Is Prowler In An Alternate Universe

One of Miles Morales’ strongest connections in the Marvel’s Spider-Man games - and other Spider-Man media - is to his Uncle Aaron, AKA the Prowler. Although the games do pay homage to this relationship via Miles’ Family Business suit, which has a distinctly Prowler-looking style, it would be cool to see modders take it a step further. Dressing Miles in a full Prowler outfit would be cool to see, and could also tie in well with an movie.

As was shown at the end of Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse, Miles is the Prowler in an alternate universe. With a series of delays to the next Spider-Verse movie leaving audiences hanging for a while to see Prowler Miles in action, modders could step in and give them a sneak peek. Even fans just familiar with Prowler from the Miles Morales game would likely welcome the chance to wear such a cool costume.

7 Spider-Man 2 Modders Should Bring Back Peter’s Undies

Spider-Man's Underwear Suit Was Good For Creating Comedic Moments

It makes sense that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 would want to stray away from repeating all the same costumes as the first game, as it would have felt a little underwhelming to just collect all the same suits again. That said, there are a few that it would be fun to have back, most notable among them being Peter in his underwear.

In the first Marvel’s Spider-Man game, players can unlock a costume that's just Peter in his Spidey mask and a pair of boxers. This costume is hilarious to wear on a second playthrough of the game, especially because it appears in all the cutscenes. Every so often, a line of dialogue will gain new meaning with Peter in his underwear and create a big laugh. Modders should find a way to include a version of this skin, so Spider-Man 2 can have the same chance at accidental comedy, even if it may be difficult with Peter’s new mechanics.

6 The Game’s Agent Venom Suit Should Be Made Playable

Spider-Man 2 Had A Great Agent Venom Model

When Harry first appears as Venom in Spider-Man 2, he is wearing a suit that resembles the comics’ Agent Venom suit. In Marvel Comics, this is how the Venom symbiote appeared while worn by Flash Thompson, first appearing in a story from Amazing Spider-Man #654 by Dan Slott, Paulo Siqueira, Ronan Cliquet, Roland Paris, Greg Adams, and Fabio D’Auria. Harry only briefly appears in this outfit before the symbiote transfers over to Peter.

Once Peter starts wearing the symbiote in Spider-Man 2, he looks like the traditional depiction of the black suit Spider-Man from the comics. Unfortunately, in the base game, players never unlock an alternate look for the costume that reflects Harry’s initial Agent-Venom-inspired design. This is a big shame, because the design looks great, and an Agent Venom skin would also be a nice reference to the comics. Since the suit already appears in the game on another character, it hopefully wouldn’t be too hard to make into an alternate look for symbiote Peter.

5 Miles’ Team Up With Blade Gave Him An Awesome Suit

Miles' Vampire Hunter Suit Would Look Great In Motion

Miles Morales has had a fair share of team-ups in Marvel Comics. Miles Morales: Spider-Man #11 by Cody Ziglar, Federica Mancin, and Bryan Valenzia teamed him up with the vampire hunter Blade. While they were working together, Blade decided Miles needed some new equipment to help him more effectively fight off vampires, so he gave Miles a new suit.

A new theory surrounding one of Marvel's Spider-Man 2 suits could predict an story in Insomniac's Marvel Universe.

Miles’ vampire hunting costume has a lot of cool features. Its high collar is designed to protect Miles from bites to the neck, and it - combined with his bright red visors - draws a clear visual distinction between him and Blade. The suit also has flowing coattails which are the kind of thing that one likely wouldn’t want to wear in real life, but look cool and can add some dynamic movement to a comic book or video game character.

4 Modders Should Complete The Marvel Rivals Crossover By Including Peter’s Suit

Marvel Rivals' Style Stands Out Compared To Other Suits

It was recently announced that hero-shooter Marvel Rivals and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 would be doing a mini-crossover in the form of a new skin. Marvel Rivals’ version of Spider-Man will be able to sport the Advanced Suit 2.0 from Spider-Man 2 starting on January 30 to coincide with the latter’s PC release the same day. Although officially this crossover is only one way, modders should complete the exchange by recreating Spider-Man’s Marvel Rivals look in Spider-Man 2.

Although only subtly different from a traditional Spider-Man suit, the Marvel Rivals version does include some interesting black highlights and a unique spider emblem that really makes it pop. Additionally, the color palette is a bit brighter to fit with Rivals’ cartoony aesthetic. This could be a real standout suit if modders can capture both its design and Marvel Rivals’ distinct art style.

3 Arachno-Man Would Shake Up Peter’s Color Palette

Arachno-Man Is A Very Strange Color For Spider-Man Suits

Some players have expressed disappointment that many of Peter’s alternate costumes in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 are red, blue, or red and blue. It’s hard to fully blame the development team for this, as red and blue are Spider-Man’s signature colors, and are typically what gets used for alternate looks in the comics. However, if players want more variety, there is a perfect suit to mix up Peter’s colors.

In Ultimate Spider-Man #54 by Brian Michael Bendis, Mark Bagley, Art Thibert, and J.D. Smith, a film crew is working on a movie inspired by Spider-Man called Arachno-Man. The title character of the film is dressed similarly to Spider-Man but with green and yellow subbed in for blue and red respectively. This would perfectly solve the issue of too many red and blue suits, while also referencing a comedic side character from an old Spider-Man issue. This suit previously appeared as an unlockable in 2005’s Ultimate Spider-Man game.

2 Miles Morales As Thor Could Update A Cool Design From A Questionable Comic

Miles' Thor Look Fits With His Electricity Powers

Miles Morales once appeared as an alternate universe version of Thor in Marvel Comics, complete with his own unique look for the character. The outfit in question first appeared in What If…? Miles Morales #4 by Yehudi Mercado, Paco Medina, and Luigi Zagaria. Although the book itself wasn’t too well-received, and some of its creative decisions were questionable, Miles still looked pretty cool as Thor. Modding his suit into the game would help preserve the cool design without having to put up with its original context.

The recent New Game+ update for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 accidentally added a major glitch that could erase players' saves if they engage with it.

Although both Peter and Miles have done stints as Thor in Marvel Comics, Miles seems to be the better fit to get a Thor skin in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Because Miles has electricity powers, the Thor look works better with his skill set. Peter also has either the Iron Spider arms or the Symbiote powers in this game, neither of which mesh too well with a Thor look.

1 Poison Spider-Man Fits Perfectly With The Anti-Venom Suit

Poison Spider-Man Is The Perfect Anti-Venom Alternate Skin

During Marvel Comics’ Venomverse event, the major antagonists were the Poisons, a group of aliens that assimilated symbiotes and their hosts. In Venomverse #1 by Cullen Bun, Iban Coello, and Matt Yacky, a version of Spider-Man who was bonded with the Venom symbiote fell victim to the Poisons and was morphed into Poison Spider-Man. In this form, Spider-Man’s body became all white and took on a hard segmented form that looked like an insect’s carapace. He also had more distinct insect-like features, making this a very unique-looking Spider-Man.

This version of Spider-Man’s white and black color scheme fits nicely with the Anti-Venom suit from Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Maybe because it’s such a late-game acquisition, but Peter's Anti-Venom suit in the game doesn’t actually get any distinct alternate looks, just a few palette swaps. Poisons Spider-Man could easily shake things up, while still making sense with the original suit’s color scheme, so it could be easier to incorporate its powers.
