An updated schedule for The Masked Singer season 13, and Soundtrack Of My Life Night returns for the quarterfinals.

Some changes have been made to the rest of the Masked Singer season 13 schedule, and now there are fewer episodes than previously thought.

Gekkonidae05 on Reddit pointed out that The Futon Critic made some changes to the rest of the Masked Singer season 13 schedule, and now there are fewer episodes than previously thought. They pointed out that before this week, the listings showed four more episodes after the Top 5 round, which is the Quarterfinals. Now the listings only show two more episodes after the quarterfinals. Assuming only one celebrity is eliminated in each of the remaining episodes, this means there will be three contestants left heading into the finale instead of two.

What A Possible Top 3 Finale Means For The Masked Singer Season 13

The Masked Singer Finale Format Hasn't Been Revealed Yet

If there ends up being a Top 3 in The Masked Singer season 13 finale instead of a Top 2, it wouldn't necessarily be a complete surprise since they've done it before. When The Masked Singer debuted, the first five seasons featured a Top 3 finale. Then they started relying on a Top 4, with a couple other configurations thrown in, like starting out with three contestants, then having an elimination and a final showdown between the Top 2. In recent years, a Top 2 finale has been the most common format.

Assuming the scheduling update has revealed a Top 3 format, it'll be interesting to see how the producers set up the episode. They could have the three contestants only perform once, then the rest of the episode focuses on unmasking each of them. That's the most likely configuration. However, they could do an elimination in the middle of the episode, like with season 7 when Prince was eliminated, leaving Firefly and Ringmaster to go head-to-head in the second round of the night.

Our Take On The Masked Singer Season 13’s Schedule Change

A Top 3 Finale Means Fewer Masked Singer Performances

If this scheduling update ends up coming to fruition, then the major downside is there are fewer episodes than fans originally thought there would be. By potentially going with a Top 3 finale instead of a Top 2, it means fewer performances across the season, and that's the whole reason why we tune in every week. Then again, this theory might not come true at all if there's a double elimination in the semifinals. Fans will just have to tune in to find out how it all unfolds and if the possible format change enhances or ruins the finale experience.

The Masked Singer airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. EDT on FOX.
