Positive news for Bioware, as Mass Effect installment getting the remaster treatment. The game’s newly announced gold status means that development on the title is over and retail-ready copies of the game can start shipping out – a cause for excitement for both the gamers creators and fans.

Though the game’s existence was widely reported before its official announcement on November 7 2020 – a date of special significance for the series – Mass Effect: Legendary Edition’s reveal was well received. The new edition promised to include enhanced versions of the original game trilogy along with much of the series’ single-player DLC. At last count, Mass: Effect: Legendary Edition will contain more than forty different DLC, though news broke this year that not all of the games’ previous content would make it into the release. Unfortunately, it appears that Pinnacle Station from Mass Effect did not make it into the game due to problems with the DLC’s source code.

The official Mass Effect Twitter, in response to a slightly earlier celebratory tweet from project director Mac Walters, has confirmed Mass Effect: Legendary Edition has gone gold. The original tweet centers around a short clip of the game’s protagonists showing off some meme-worthy dancing moves. Walter’s tweet begins by recalling the work that went into the project before taking up a more jovial tone. The franchise’s official is little briefer, quickly announcing the game’s status and reminding players that it releases on May 14.

As the release date come closer, more information regarding changes in the new edition has begun to surface. The contentious ending of Mass Effect 3, for example, seems to have undergone some alterations. EA recently revealed in a blog post that the ending featured in the game’s extended cut would take the original’s place. The remastered editions of the games also promise to improve each title’s quality, especially the original Mass Effect which was first released in 2007. In addition to enhanced graphics, small quality-of-life updates, like optimized inventory and HUD changes, hope to create a better experience.

With only a little more than a month left until the game’s release, Mass Effect: Legendary Edition’s gold status is fantastic news. The developers will almost certainly be polishing aspects of the title up until launch and beyond, but the team at BioWare has certainly hit a dance-worthy milestone.
