The long-awaited Mass Effect Legendary Edition is just a little over a month away, and EA has released a brand-new trailer for the title, showcasing all of the visual enhancements coming to the remastered trilogy. Fans have begged for almost an entire console generation to see the project come to life, and now their patience is being rewarded. The difference between the old games and the new collection is almost night and day, allowing these three games to stand tall against other modern titles and not be bogged down by dated tech.
The collection boasts a lot of big changes on a visual level, but BioWare has reworked some of Mass Effect's story as well. Specifically for Mass Effect 3, the team had to build the game in a very specific way to allow players to get the best possible endings. This was previously determined by how much fans played multiplayer and by a mobile companion app, neither of which are part of Mass Effect Legendary Edition. Nonetheless, BioWare has seemingly done an excellent job making the game as true to form as possible and modernizing this trilogy in a big way.
Recently given Mass Effect Legendary Edition lots of love, which should please the fans who have waited almost a decade for this collection.
Although many of these graphical improvements are welcomed and do make the game much nicer to look at, there are some that could use a bit of fine tuning. The lighting in some scenes doesn't always look great, particularly on some character models, which is an issue that has more or less impacted a number of remasters over the years. Whether or not this will be fixed at some point is unclear, but it's also not a total deal breaker for Mass Effect Legendary Edition.
Overall, this collection will undeniably be the definitive way to experience this trilogy both for veterans and for newcomers, even if Mass Effect Legendary Edition is missing multiplayer. The across-the-board improvements from visuals to gameplay are setting it up to be a game that's nothing but pure fan-service in the best way possible.
