A mysterious post on McDonald's Japan's X features a silhouette image of the iconic character, teasing the collaboration to come. Aside from this brief teaser, not much information has been released about the collaboration yet, but if McDonald's past anime partnerships are any indication, it is sure to be worth the wait.

According to the text on the post, the Hatsune Miku partnership will involve a favorite, delicious item on McDonald's Japan's menu: Shaka Shaka Potato ®, which is a menu item available in Japan that allows customers to shake different flavored seasonings onto their french fries. This Hatsune Miku announcement is certainly not McDonald's Japan's first partnership of this kind though, the restaurant recently just revealed a similar one with Neon Genesis Evangelion that featured exclusive toys designed to look like EVA units from the show, but with a twist: they reimagined the EVAs as McDonald's menu items like a Big Mac, fries, and a soft drink.

During the collaboration, Neon Genesis Evangelion-themed McDonald's menu items were also unveiled, including “Cheese Double Teriyaki,” “Mexican Cheese Chicken,” and “Sliced Potatoes and Thick Beef,” offering customers delicious new menu items that included packaging that offered a subtle nod to their favorite series. There were even special commercials to promote the collaboration that featured characters from the franchise. The Neon Genesis Evangelion event was a huge success at McDonald's in Japan, so it is no surprise at all that the company was eager to plan their next anime collaboration with a popular character like Hatsune Miku.
