Fast food companies have collaborated with so many pop culture franchises this past year, including everything from Dragon Ball to Pokémon. Now, McDonald's has just announced its most exciting partnership yet, it will be running a Hatsune Miku-themed promotion very soon.

A mysterious post on McDonald's Japan's X features a silhouette image of the iconic character, teasing the collaboration to come. Aside from this brief teaser, not much information has been released about the collaboration yet, but if McDonald's past anime partnerships are any indication, it is sure to be worth the wait.

This Hatsune Miku announcement is certainly not McDonald's Japan's first partnership of this kind though, the restaurant recently just revealed a similar one with Neon Genesis Evangelion that featured exclusive toys designed to look like EVA units from the show, but with a twist: they reimagined the EVAs as McDonald's menu items like a Big Mac, fries, and a soft drink.

During the collaboration, Neon Genesis Evangelion-themed McDonald's menu items were also unveiled, including “Cheese Double Teriyaki,” “Mexican Cheese Chicken,” and “Sliced Potatoes and Thick Beef,” offering customers delicious new menu items that included packaging that offered a subtle nod to their favorite series. There were even special commercials to promote the collaboration that featured characters from the franchise. The Neon Genesis Evangelion event was a huge success at McDonald's in Japan, so it is no surprise at all that the company was eager to plan their next anime collaboration with a popular character like Hatsune Miku.

Each meal included a Pokémon trading card as the Happy Meal toy, with 15 The Jujutsu Kaisen McDonald's partnership was just as thrilling, boasting an all-new sauce option created just for the event called Special Grade Garlic Sauce, and each sauce packet included a character from the Jujutsu Kaisen anime series on the wrapper.

Anime collaborations with fast food restaurants have proven extremely lucrative for companies worldwide, so fans can definitely expect to see more of these partnerships in the near future.
