Tom Hardy's Harry Da Souza is intended to be the protagonist of Paramount+'s crime drama Pierce Brosnan's Conrad Harrigan, even more so than his son Kevin, and certainly more so than his son Brendan.

He is seemingly the most reliable and capable member of the episode 6 of MobLand.

It's No Longer Believable That Jan Stays With Harry In MobLand

His Livelihood Literally Endangers Her And Their Daughter

Joanne Froggatt as Jan Da Souza and Tom Hardy as Harry Da Souza in MobLand

Jan Da Souza has seemed disenchanted with her husband's connection to the Harrigans since the very first episode of MobLand; it's what made her such an appealing target for Alice (Emily Barber), DS Fisk's undercover informant. However, she and her daughter Gina seem to enjoy a comfortable lifestyle as a result of Harry's employment, and she's been very clear that when he's present, he treats her and Gina well. With a daughter in the mix and at least 15+ years of love behind them, it's understandable that Jan's tolerance for Harry's work with the Harrigans would be high.

However, episode 6 finally saw her worst fears realized, as the Da Souzas were urgently swept up to the Cotswolds thanks to the very real threat to their lives following the murder of Vron Stevenson. While it theoretically was always the case, Harry's work with the Harrigans has officially put her and her daughter's lives in jeopardy, making it hard to believe that Jan is willing to stay with Harry long-term. The fact that the "safe" place is under the roof of an unstable elderly gangster who was already inappropriate with her 16-year-old daughter is icing on the cake.

Jan May Finally Be Giving Up On Harry In MobLand

One Moment Points To Her Lingering Doubt

Screenrant Sandbox - 2025-05-07T215336.954

Between Harry continuing to be absent when she asks him to attend therapy with her, she and Gina suddenly being whisked to the houseboat of one of Harry's "friends", and Conrad stalking and intimidating her in her own home, Jan's patience was well past the boiling point. Harry forcing her and Gina into Conrad's home out of desperation for their safety is clearly the breaking point for her marriage to Harry, and she all but proved it with one line. Following her uncomfortable conversation with Conrad, a distraught Gina confronted her mother about their lifestyle.

Gina finally asks her mother outright if she loves her father, and Jan visibly shows how difficult it is to answer that in the affirmative. After seeming to consider the question for a moment, Jan pulls her daughter closely and tells her not to be silly. The fact that she can't even bring herself to tell their daughter to her face that she still loves Harry is the ultimate proof of just how far gone Jan is when it comes to her relationship with Harry.

Is There Hope For Jan & Harry To Make Things Work?

It Seems Unlikely So Long As Conrad Is Around

With Harry now on the frontlines of a full-fledged gang war, there will be no time whatsoever for Harry and Jan to do any meaningful work on their marriage. The only path forward for them seems to be the end of Harry's relationship with the Harrigans. Gina even suggests to her mother that the three of them could run away together. As it stands, Harry's allegiance is to the Harrigans before his own family, and as long as Conrad still has his tentacles wrapped around the skilled fixer, Harry will remain overly distant from his wife and daughter.
