Capcom has revealed the new content that is coming in Monster Hunter Rise's next update, which will add five new monsters to the game. These new monsters include some of the most fearsome foes in the Monster Hunter series, like Chameleos and Teostra.
Monster Hunter Rise launched with less content than what fans might be used to, but that's partly due to it receiving a worldwide release. In the Nintendo 3DS days of the Monster Hunter franchise the games were packed with content, but that's only because fans outside of Japan received the updated versions of the game which were released much later. As such, the launch version of Monster Hunter Rise can be completed in around 30-40 hours, but Capcom will continue to add content to the game with free updates (as well as a G-rank paid DLC update, if the Capcom leak is to be believed).
Capcom held a digital Monster Hunter event today, which included announcements regarding the update for Monster Hunter Rise. The 2.0 update for Monster Hunter Rise will launch on April 28 and it's adding some powerful high-rank foes for players to face. These enemies include some incredibly strong opponents, so they're best saved for people who have completed the existing Monster Hunter Rise story content, or have at least reached the highest ranks available to them.
New Monster In Monster Hunter Rise: Chameleos
Chameleos is an Elder Dragon with a number of annoying abilities, the most prominent of which is invisibility. This new Monster Hunter Rise creature can vanish from sight at any moment to perform sneak attacks on unwary hunters. Chameleos has a massive tongue that it fires like a whip to deal a ton of damage. In the older Monster Hunter games, Chameleos' tongue could also steal items from a hunter's grip. It can also spit out blobs of poison, which will damage any hunter it touches.
New Monster In Monster Hunter Rise: Teostra
Teostra is one of the most fearsome creatures in the Monster Hunter series, as it has elemental mastery over fire. These monsters reside in fiery caverns that are filled with magma, where the environment itself is harmful to hunters. Teostra have the ability to breathe a huge ray of fire from their mouth, as well as creating a shield of flame that explodes around its body.
New Monster In Monster Hunter Rise: Kushala Daora
In Monster Hunter Rise, Kushala Daora are dragons with control over the wind itself. Not only are these beasts a nightmare to get on the ground, but they can swiftly strike from the skies.
Kushala Daora can summon massive cyclones that will decimate hunters where they stand. Mastering the Wirebug in Monster Hunter Rise will be essential for these fights, as it will be the easiest way to escape being chewed up by a hurricane.
New Monsters In Monster Hunter Rise: Apex Diablos/Apex Rathalos
Monster Hunter Rise's 2.0 update is adding new Apex variants of Diablos and Rathalos. Apex monsters are far stronger and more aggressive than the base versions of the creatures. Hunters will have very little breathing room when facing these beasts, as they will keep piling on attacks until all foes are slaughtered. Only skilled hunters with high-rank gear should attempt to take on an Apex monster.
The Monster Hunter Rise 2.0 update will be available on April 28, 2021. The game is available now for Nintendo Switch and will be released for PC in 2022.
