Subscribers will have their last chance to catch several movies and TV shows leaving Hulu this month throughout various dates in October 2024. Hulu offers a large selection of TV shows and movies, and every month some of that content ends up leaving the streaming service. Launched in 2007, Hulu is one of the original major streaming services. Like other streaming services in the past year, Hulu has begun cracking down on sharing, however, as one of the few to include unskippable ads during TV shows and movies, it does offer lower-priced subscriptions.

Hulu offers plenty of original movies and programming alongside its large library of network and Hollywood titles, yet it is always changing, meaning that not every piece of content will be there forever. October 2024 will see some notable titles leaving the streaming platform, including the classic horror movie franchise of The Omen and the intense thriller sequel Sicario: Day of the Soldado, as well as some lesser-known titles including an early Sydney Sweeney horror movie. With only a finite number of days left to enjoy many of the quality movies and TV shows on the platform, subscribers will want to keep an eye on everything leaving Hulu in October 2024.

An adaptation of the stage musical by the same name, Cats boasts a star-studded cast playing the Jellicles, a tribe of street cats who make a choice once a year about which one of them will ascend to what they call the Heavenside Layer and be reborn to a new life. The original musical is itself based on a book by famous poet T.S. Eliot, and remains one of the longest-running Broadway shows.

Though there are a lot of Hulu s who likely won’t be sorry to see it go, given that Cats has been called one of the worst movies ever made, there are sure to be some who are curious to check it out before it is gone on October 5. The musical is an adaptation of the Andrew Lloyd Webber Broadway classic and follows a group of cats living on the streets as they prepare to select their new chosen one for their community.

Cats seemed to have a lot of things going for it early on, with it being an adaptation of such a popular musical and coming from director Tom Hooper, who previously helmed the Oscar-winning Les Misérables. It also featured a star-studded cast, including Jennifer Hudson, Idris Elba, Ian McKellen, and Taylor Swift. However, the movie was trashed by critics and failed at the box office. However, there is a cult fascination surrounding the movie, suggesting it could grow a reputation as one of the rare so-bad-it’s-good movies.

In Sicario: Day of the Soldado, FBI agent Matt Graver s forces with assassin Alejandro Gillick when a the war between drug cartels along the US-Mexico border reaches a tipping point. Benicio Del Toro and Josh Brolin reprise their roles from Denis Villeneuve's first movie, but Stefano Sollima replaces the original movie's director.

As fans still wait for news of a possible Sicario 3, they can check out Sicario: Day of the Soldado on Hulu before it leaves on October 16. The movie is the sequel to the intense and riveting thriller directed by Denis Villeneuve and focuses on Alejandro (Benicio Del Toro) and Matt (Josh Brolin) as they attempt to ignite a gang war between rival drug cartels by kidnapping the daughter of a notorious drug lord.

The sequel sorely misses Villeneuve as director, though Stefano Sollima does a solid job capturing the style and intensity of the world. Del Toro is once again compelling in this expanded role and the sequel delves deeper into the chaotic fight against these dangerous cartels and the lines that are crossed along the way. Fans of the original will certainly want to check it out while they can.

WHERE TO WATCH

Along Came the Devil (2018) explores the harrowing experience of a young woman who, following the loss of her mother and an unsettling encounter with the supernatural, finds herself at the center of a deadly demonic possession. Hemmed in by malevolent forces, she must confront her deepest fears in a fight for her soul, unraveling dark secrets that haunt her family's past.

While there is a lot of horror content coming to Hulu in October, there will also be a number of titles from the genre leaving this month. Along Came the Devil is one such title and one that is worth seeking out before it is gone on October 26. Not only is it a gripping and underseen horror story, but it also marks an earlier role from Sydney Sweeney before she became one of the biggest stars in Hollywood.

The movie is in the same vein as the horror movie classic The Exorcist, with Sweeney playing a young woman who is recovering from her traumatic childhood when she begins to suspect there is a dark force attempting to possess her. With the creepy atmosphere and the fun of seeing Sweeney in an early starring role, this may be the last chance for Along Came the Devil to find an audience.

The Omen (1976)

October is the perfect time for audiences to enjoy some of the classic movies of the horror genre. While Hulu will be removing one of the classics of the genre in October, they will wisely be waiting until the end of the month with The Omen exiting the platform on October 31. The movie is a chilling slow-burn horror movie that capitalizes on the genre trend of creepy children as it stars Gregory Peck as a United States ambassador living in England who begins to suspect there is something sinister about his son Damien.

The movie, directed by Richard Donner, is a stunning horror achievement with plenty of scares and sequences that still hold up to this day. There are also several other entries in The Omen franchise that are leaving Hulu on October 31 as well, however, none of them live up to the brilliance of the original.

WHERE TO WATCH

Capricorn One centers around a fictional Mars mission that faces a shocking revelation. As astronauts set to land on Mars are pulled from their spacecraft moments before launch, the government orchestrates an elaborate hoax, faking the mission's success. Meanwhile, a curious journalist begins to unravel the truth behind the deception. Directed by Peter Hyams, the film explores themes of political intrigue and media manipulation.

Some of the older movies can get lost in Hulu's massive library of content, with fans overlooking some great classics until they are gone. Time is running out on Capricorn One as the terrific thriller is leaving Hulu on October 15. Earlier this year, Fly Me to the Moon had a lot of fun with its rom-com story set around the plan to fake the moon landing. Capricorn One takes a much more serious and high-stakes approach to a similar premise.

The movie is set in the not-too-distant future in which the first mission to Mars is underway. However, while the nation celebrates the successful landing on an alien planet, a journalist begins to explore the possibility that it has all been staged, putting a target on his back. The movie boasts a terrific cast from the era with Elliott Gould, James Brolin, and Sam Waterson, along with, quite notably, a role for OJ Simpson from early in his career.
