Season 2 of Get Organized With The Home Edit came to Netflix just in time for spring cleaning fanatics. Featuring Clea Shearer, Joanna Teplin, and their team of organizers and builders, this show demonstrates how to edit, categorize, contain, and maintain living spaces. Since more people have prioritized staying home or working from home over the past few years, TV shows that inspire downsizing, organizing, and cleaning have grown in popularity.

While The Home Edit's system is a great place to start, there are several other TV shows that provide unique methods, strategies, and techniques that could motivate viewers to begin a new household project while they wait to hear if Get Organized will be renewed.

Clean House

The cast of Clean House

Originally hosted by Niecy Nash, Clean House aired for 10 seasons and featured an interior designer, an organizer, and a yard sale planner. The profits from the client's yard sale directly affected the budget the designers received to organize their space.

Although Clea and Joanna ask their clients to edit, they do not sell their clients' items to pay for the home makeover, and they never disclose how much their organization jobs cost. Clean House may seem more relatable to audiences than the aspirational Netflix show, because the audience gets to see a glimpse of the redecorating costs, including the results of the yard sale.

The cast of Clean House New York

Clean House New York premiered after the original show ended and only lasted for one season. In addition to the yard sale, the spinoff featured an auction of their clients' high-ticket items, to help raise funds for the team to organize and decorate the clients' cramped New York apartments.

When The Home Edit discovers hidden treasures, like Danielle Brooks' Grammy that was buried in her closet, they don't auction them off, but they do display them in a place of honor. The celebrity clients on Get Organized with The Home Edit set the show apart, and allow the audience to relate to the famous guest stars on a personal level, which couldn't be topped by even the best houses on MTV Cribs.

Tidying Up With Marie Kondo

Tidying Up With Marie Kondo

Throughout each episode of Tidying Up, Marie Kondo explains the steps of her KonMari organization method and offers helpful instructions on how to fold different types of clothing and identify when an item sparks joy.

Marie checks in periodically with her clients throughout their cleaning process, while the team at The Home Edit prefers to send clients away after they define their needs and priorities. These two opposing concepts both have positive impacts on their clients. Viewers can easily see that Marie's clients are proud of their hard work, while Joanna and Clea's clients are relieved to walk into a clean space designed by professionals.

Marie Kondo in Sparking Joy with Marie Kondo

Sparking Joy serves a deeper purpose than Tidying Up, as it explores how an unorganized space can strain the relationships of the people in the mess. Marie offers inspiring advice on how to communicate in a productive way, and how to create a "power space" to recharge away from sources of stress.

When episodes of other home design reality TV shows end, they usually don't provide a way to follow up with the clients and see how they are doing. Sparking Joy provides a short update to show the progress Marie's clients have continued to make one week after her intervention.

Hot Mess House

The hosts of Hot Mess House with arms folded

Virtual meetings have become second nature for a lot of people, including organization guru and self-proclaimed "clutter bug," Cassandra Aarssen. As the host of Hot Mess House, Cassandra consults her clients and views their living spaces through video calls.

After she determines her clients' organizational styles, Cassandra recommends solutions and sends her clients furniture that they must assemble and install on their own. Cassandra provides moral and valuable tips from afar, but ultimately, the success of the makeover depends on the effort the client puts into the project.

Molly Pesce with a family on Clean This House

Clean This House was a reality competition show that pitted two families with very messy homes against each other and gave them 24 hours and unlimited cleaning supplies to see who would end up with the cleanest home. The unique premise may sound like a social experiment, but each week the winning family received a year's worth of Clorox cleaning supplies and maid services from Molly Maid, as well as $1,000.

Similar to Hot Mess House, the host of Clean This House, Molly Pesce would provide storage bins and cleaning advice, but she was not allowed to physically help contestants sort through their belongings, edit out unnecessary items, or clean. The progress the contestants made in only one day was impressive and often made it hard for Molly to choose a winner.

The Amandas

Poster for The Amandas

Amanda LeBlanc's team of organizers came from a variety of career paths, and notably did not share their boss' first name, yet they were still deemed The Amandas. They were expected to follow their boss' organizational methods to a T, and meet her demands for perfection. This former Style Network series featured a lot of personalities, trendy outfits, and confessional interviews, which is reminiscent of some of the best reality TV shows on Bravo.

While Amanda's leadership style seemed over-the-top, her motive to please her clients came from a genuine place. Amanda started her home organization business after her family lost almost everything in Hurricane Katrina. She knows what it's like to part with treasured items, and she shows a lot of empathy toward her clients. Amanda's high standards and tight timelines are comparable to Clea and Joanna's on Get Organized With The Home Edit. Both shows demonstrate how strong female leadership and teamwork can get a lot accomplished in a short amount of time.

Title card for Master The Mess

Before Clea and Joanna found mainstream success on Get Organized With The Home Edit, they had a YouTube show called Master The Mess, which was also produced by Reese Witherspoon's company, Hello Sunshine. This smaller-scale production balanced client projects with authentic messy moments from the work wives.

As their company continues to grow and reach new levels of success, some things at The Home Edit haven't changed since the beginning, like Joanna and Clea's love of form, function, signature labels, and rainbows. The quintessential bond of these two women is at the heart of their two shows and thriving business. This dynamic duo is very lucky to have one of the best female friendships on reality television.
