There will be two giveaways for the release of the pre-order kick-off being so chaotic, with a lot of canceled orders, payment methods being declined, and consistent website crashes, those who will be waiting in line at Best Buy tonight will get a neat sentimental piece to take home.

According to Wario64 on Bluesky, retailer Best Buy will be giving away "Best Buy Exclusive Commemorative Coins" and character patches for the release of the Switch 2. There will reportedly be between 25 and 150 of the coins available and around 50 character patches, depending on the specific store.

Best Buy Is Offering Commemorative Coins To People Waiting For Switch 2

A Memory For A Once In A Lifetime Launch

The coins appear to be red on one side and silver on the other. The red side has the Nintendo Switch 2 logo, while the other has the Best Buy logo. There will only be up to a maximum of 150 per store, though, so you may have to be in line early to get this exclusive coin. The coins will likely go on to become valuable collector's items with so few available and only at one specific retailer, so fans may want to celebrate this historic launch with an exclusive, sentimental token.

Forget Super Mario Odyssey, Nintendo Switch 2 Needs A Different Mario Sequel

Super Mario Odyssey was a great 3D Mario game, but it isn't the Mario game that I'd most like to see a sequel to on the Nintendo Switch 2.

The character patches appear to feature couples of specific characters and come in three variations: Mario and Luigi, Princess Peach and Toad, and Bowser and Donkey Kong. The patches will not be available at the launch and will be mailed to the first 50 buyers of the Switch 2 at each store. Fans will want to make sure their Best Buy has the correct mailing address on file. The patches are not a Best Buy exclusive; they have been given out at other Nintendo events, but it's still an easy way to get one.

Our Take: The Coin Is A Fun, Free Way To Switch 2 Launch

It'll Be A Nostalgic Showpiece One Day

The coin is a great sentimental piece to such a big entertainment launch like the Switch 2. Despite the controversy surrounding the Switch 2, like Game-Key Cards being physical versions of digital games, the price tags of the console and some games, and a few other things, excitement is still very high for the Switch 2. We're mere hours away from the launch, so fans are preparing for their nights and coming days, and knowing they can get a fun, free coin from Best Buy will likely please a lot of fans.

Console launches and game launches have had midnight and day-one extra goodies before, so this isn't unprecedented, but it is still neat for fans. Nintendo has predicted the Switch 2 will sell more than the Switch in its first year of being on the market, despite it being available for three fewer months during its fiscal year, so a lot of fans will be buying the Nintendo Switch 2, and having a little something extra to the fun launch day is always a good thing.
