The Switch 2 approaches its June 5, 2025, launch day, more are bound to be revealed.
It's also worth mentioning that the Switch 2 is backward compatible, so nearly every Switch game – both physical and digital – is playable on Nintendo's new hardware. The Switch 2 Direct brought a shocking number of game confirmations, many of which will be playable on the new console's launch day. It's also fun to see plenty of games that will take advantage of the Joy-Con 2's mouse controls, which should help first-person shooters and strategy games find a larger audience on the platform.

Launch Games For Switch 2 Explained
21 Switch 2 Games Confirmed For June 5, 2025
There are 21 launch-day Switch 2 games, releasing alongside Nintendo's new console on June 5, 2025. Notably (and perhaps concerningly), only two of them are brand-new titles: Mario Kart World and Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour. Mario Kart World can be purchased in a bundle with the Switch 2 itself, but Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour is a separate digital purchase that acts as a virtual hardware showcase. The only other first-party games coming to the Switch 2 on launch day are revamped versions of BOTW and TOTK. These will be sold separately, but also available through upgrades if you own them already; both upgrades are also free for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers.
