The original Oblivion has always been known for its great quest design, with The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered recreating it as closely as possible thanks to its unique combination of game engines. While this does mean that many quests are taken to even greater heights with brand-new fidelity, facial animations, and voice acting, it also means some of the most tedious haven't changed one bit. While it might not be the most rewarding questline that Oblivion Remastered has to offer, "Seeking Your Roots" still has plenty of benefits for the average player.
Unlike a traditional quest, you won't need to do much to start the "Seeking Your Roots" questline, as you'll unlock it simply by gathering any single Nirnroot out in the wilds. Despite being one of the very first quests you're likely to receive in Oblivion Remastered, completing the full questline isn't as easy as it sounds, given that you'll need to find a total of 100 Nirnroot. While the quest might not seem difficult at first, with how plentiful most plants in Oblivion Remastered tend to be, the biggest catch is that wild Nirnroots typically don't respawn after being harvested.
How To Identify Nirnroot In Oblivion Remastered
Using Your Ears Is Key To Finding This Rare Plant
Thankfully, given how rare and valuable the Nirnoot plant is, they're fairly easy to identify in the wilds of Tamriel as long as you know what to look for. The first thing you'll notice about Nirnroot is how bright and vibrant the plant is compared to its surroundings, with the new Oblivion Remastered model being even easier to spot thanks to its additional branching leaves.
You'll have a much better chance of finding Nirnroot by turning Oblivion Remastered's sound effects volume up and listening for its distinctive chime.
Given that Nirnroot is somewhat scattered rather than solely being where water meets land, you'll have a much better chance of finding Nirnroot by turning Oblivion Remastered's sound effects volume up and listening for its distinctive chime. In of where you'll actually find the plant, Nirnroot plants are typically located along coastlines, but can vary in distance from the water itself. It's also important to quicksave often when farming for Nirnroot, as it could save you plenty of time from dying due to a random encounter or crashing if you aren't using an unofficial patch for Oblivion Remastered.
Best Places To Look For Nirnroot In Oblivion Remastered
Collecting All 100 Nirnroot In No Time
One of the main benefits of Oblivion Remastered's map being smaller than Skyrim's is that it takes much less time to traverse its game world, as the quest "Seeking Your Roots" is considerably easier with a horse and knowing where to look. Although the few Nirnroot north of Skingard, as Sinderion suggests, is a good place to start, it's nowhere near enough to collect all 100 you need for the questlne, which I find much more manageable to complete when using a single route.
You'll have the most luck simply starting somewhere north of the Imperial City and making a full loop along the coastline southwards, after turning back around at Leyawiin.
Given the conditions that Nirnoot grows under, you'll have the most luck simply starting somewhere around the Imperial City and making a full loop along the coastline southwards, after turning back around at Leyawiin. With enough patience and listening in for any Nirnroot chimes, you should have found enough Nirnroot to complete the questline, but there's plenty more Nirnroot scattered throughout the world if you are missing a few and don't feel like making another loop. The coast of Anvil also has a handful of Nirnroot as well, making it a good way to fill in if you're missing just a few more.

"Your Strongest Potions": Oblivion Remastered Players Have Discovered The Most Overpowered Easter Egg
Oblivion Remastered contains a delightfully weird Easter egg referencing a classic viral video, showing just how much of a cultural impact it’s had.
Given the limited nature of Nirnroot, there's a very slim chance that you'll end up using or selling them before being able to complete the quest, but thankfully there is a somewhat reliable way to spawn the plant in one location. After unlocking the Deepscorn Hollow house just south of Leyawiin, there is a guaranteed spawn on top of the table in the bedroom, which is replaced every three days after being collected.
Given there's a total of 309 Nirnroot across Oblivion Remastered, it's unlikely you'll need to use this more time-consuming method, but it's a handy way to ively gain Nirnroot if you don't feel like farming to complete the quest.
Now that you've finished collecting all 100 Nirnroot, you can start to reap the rewards from having a high reputation with Skingrad's alchemist, offering much higher rates of return for your materials with a significant potion discount as well. Regardless of the difficulty of the Seeking Your Roots quest, with The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered potentially starting a new era for Bethesda, these collection-based quests are ones I wouldn't exactly miss moving forward.
