Warning: Contains spoilers for One Piece chapter #1150.In a shocking twist, One Piece is about to have another break amid its biggest twist in years. After years of anticipation, One Piece has finally entered its Elbaph arc, and as things escalated with every chapter, chapter #1150 brought things to their peak when Imu possessed Gunko to get involved in the fight and used their mysterious powers to turn the Giant Warrior Pirates into their demon henchmen.

’s Elbaph arc keeps getting bigger, but fans are going to have to wait a little longer to see how it all plays out. Eiichiro Oda often takes one or two breaks a month to maintain his health, and according to reliable One Piece leaker Pew, One Piece will be on break after chapter #1151 releases on June 8, meaning One Piece chapter #1152 will release on June 22. Oda deserves as much time off as he needs, and if anything, the sudden break gives an idea of just how big One Piece’s latest arc is about to get.

What Makes One Piece’s Incoming Break Such A Big Deal?

One Piece Picked The Worst Time To Go On Break

Breaks are nothing new for One Piece at this point, but it’s an especially big deal to be getting a break now, of all times. After years of being a complete mystery, Imu, One Piece’s main antagonist, has finally gotten involved in the fighting, and their unique and powerful fighting style continues to heighten the mystery behind their character as it makes the already tense situation on Elbaph even worse. Imu finally getting involved in the plot has made One Piece’s recent chapters the biggest yet, and having to take a break from all of that is understandably frustrating.

"Devils vs Pirates": Almost 10 Years Ago, a Theory Predicted One Piece's Epic Finale, And It's Starting to Come True

An interview 10 years ago postulated the idea that One Piece's final battle would be against the Devil, a very real possibility for Luffy's future

That being said, it’s perfectly understandable why One Piece would be going on break now. As most longtime One Piece fans will know, Eiichiro Oda has had plenty of health issues over the years that escalated through the early parts of the post-timeskip era, so now, he always takes one or two breaks a month to ensure that he can write without putting his health in serious jeopardy. One Piece needs to take breaks for the good of Eiichiro Oda’s health, so as frustrating as the wait for chapter #1150 will be, there’s no reason to be upset over it.

One Piece’s Break Could Set Up Another Massive Twist

As frustrating as One Piece’s break might be, there’s actually a good reason for fans to look forward to it. While it’s hardly consistent, oftentimes, when Eiichiro Oda takes a break, the chapter he leaves things off on will end on a major cliffhanger to keep fans excited, with Gears 4 and 5 and, most recently, the reveal of Scopper Gaban all preceding break weeks. Based on that, One Piece chapter #1151 could end on a massive cliffhanger to occupy fans’ minds until chapter #1152 comes out, and that would make the break entirely worth sitting through.

As for what sort of cliffhanger things could end on, that’s easy to hypothesize, as well. Naturally, things are escalating for Imu to have more and more involvement in the story, and there’s no way Imu would appear without fighting Luffy, so One Piece chapter #1151 will likely end with Luffy and Imu about to fight for the first time. Something like that would be the biggest cliffhanger ending in all of One Piece, and if that’s what happens in chapter #1151, then it would make the incoming break before chapter #1152 plenty worthwhile.
