Warning: contains major spoilers for Chapter 1019: "Heliceratops"!

Luffy just suffered a major defeat at the hands of Kaido in One Piece. Chapter 1019 sees the main character waking up following the first round of his fight against the Beasts Pirates leader. However, the next round is going to be far more brutal - on both sides.

There have been two fights between Luffy and Kaido so far, though Luffy has failed to win either of them. Their first took place in Chapter 923 with Kaido knocking out his opponent with a single hit. The next began in Chapter 1001 with Luffy in Gear Fourth and just recently wrapped up in Chapter 1013 of One Piece. Soon, the second round of this will begin - but it's going to be the hardest fight yet.

In Chapter 1019: "Heliceratops" from Shonen Jump, Luffy wakes up after being knocked down towards the sea by Kaido. He managed to stay in this fight much longer than in the first fight, but he still hasn't come up with a victory. Despite being knocked out, Luffy is determined to defeat his foe - as usual. However, up to this point, the New World Emperor hasn't taken him very seriously as an opponent. This has seemingly been nothing but trivial enjoyment for Kaido. For the next match-up, he won't be nearly as lenient as he has been.

luffy 1019 wake up

In their first fight, Luffy was knocked out instantly by a single hit. This lead Kaido to believe that his foe was a pushover, barely worth his time. At the beginning of their next fight, Luffy was in Fourth Gear and was actually able to not just withstand Kaido's attacks, but also hurt him. This made Kaido realize that his foe was more dangerous than he initially thought. As a result, he has since taken Luffy more seriously, but despite this, he has realized a grave error. He has allowed the wannabe Pirate King to survive in each of their fights. Even though Kaido has won the first round of this second fight, he left Luffy alive to fall to the sea below. Unfortunately, he realizes too late that as long as Luffy is alive, there will be hope amongst his friends. With hope, it'll take longer to quell the threat he faces because they all believe in Luffy's ability to win - no matter his odds.

Luffy has proven time and time again that being knocked down doesn't mean he should be counted out. He always returns stronger and often, better prepared to meet the challenge ahead of him. Kaido is prepared to be at his deadliest and has the resolve to end it once and for all. This fight will likely be the most brutal yet within the world of One Piece
