One Piece Odyssey is a new JRPG featuring a robust mission list that players might need help tackling. Missions can be quite extensive, and there are also various types of side quests that can give players extra XP if needed. Players hoping to take the best path through the game will want to do certain side quests at particular times.

There is a robust list of missions available to players, which contributes to One Piece Odyssey’s playtime. While the game is fairly linear, there are optional quests scattered across various maps. This allows players to take their time and upgrade the characters and their gear before heading to a new chapter.

The first chapter of the game is very linear and, beyond exploring the island, there is not much deviation allowed by the game. This allows players to learn how to play the game and continue to the next chapter fairly quickly. That being said, the main missions of the game are all linear and must be played in order. The game will block players off from wandering to places they are not allowed to complete yet. The following is a list of all the main story missions in One Piece Odyssey and the order they must be played in. This will give players a good idea as to when certain side quests will become available as well.

Beware of spoilers in the mission names for the main story in One Piece Odyssey.

Side Quests in One Piece Odyssey

Mediator Marzin's Quest in One Piece Odyssey

The second chapter is where things start to change for the characters in One Piece Odyssey as well as for the player. In this chapter, Lim will send the Straw Hats back into their memories to Alabasta. This will be where the game introduces side quests. To unlock side quests, the player must complete Chapter 2 up until they unlock the gate with the key they were given in a cutscene. This will open up side quests in the city of Nanohana.

At this point, players should find and complete Mediator Marzin’s Quest. This quest will unlock the bounty hunter quests. Memory Links are the last type of side quest, used to unlock bond charges in One Piece Odyssey, and these will be available a little later.

Once Mediator Marzin’s Quest is begun, the first bounty available will be Evil Bulbro. Also available and quick to finish in the city is the Master and Student Showdown, not far from the gate. Hungry Navi Bird is also available in Nanohana, and it is close to a mandatory side quest. This one will allow players to cross the desert in One Piece Odyssey much easier than if they do not complete it.

After this, things open up and start to allow more choices. There is no real wrong way to play the rest of the quests, but most of the side quests, including bounty targets and memory links, will be easiest for most players to complete them as they find them. If the player wishes to complete all the missions, it is best to do so as they come across them. Traveling can be difficult in One Piece Odyssey, and it will be easiest to do them when they are first available. The following lists the known side quests in the game, where to find them, when they first become available, and known recommendations for when to complete them.

The Location of a Memory Link in One Piece Odyssey

Memory Links in One Piece Odyssey are another type of side quest. These are all linked together, and the first one is unmissable. These missions can be tough, but the rewards are Bond Arts which are powerful moves that will strengthen the team. Completing them in order and promptly will allow players to get the most use out of their time and make the main missions easier. It will also allow players to follow the storyline.

Bounty Hunts in One Piece Odyssey

Confronting Evil Bulbro in One Piece Odyssey

Bounties are the last type of side quest in One Piece Odyssey that Luffy and the party can complete. As stated, these are unlocked with Mediator Marzin’s Quest. These can be found all over the map, but are often near main story missions. These do not need to be completed in any certain order, except that they will unlock as others are completed. Evil Bulbro must be completed first, before any of the others.

Likewise, the second set of five bounties in Alabasta must be completed after returning to Alabasta in the main story and beginning the Dust Ruins quest line. If a bounty listed is not available immediately upon entering that location, the player might have to continue progressing the main story before it unlocks. Generally speaking, these missions should be completed as they are unlocked, as characters will be the right level for these fights.

One Piece Odyssey has a very linear story, and this can make it hard for players to roam around as if it were a truly open-world RPG. Because of that, and because of how mission difficulty works in this game, it is best to play the side quests as they become available. This will ensure players are of the proper level and have the best accessories equipped for the mission. Doing this also allows players to explore each area thoroughly to find all the collectibles hidden around. This will let players have the best experience possible in One Piece Odyssey.
