The pirates and marines Luffy faced in Netflix's One Piece season 1 made a big impression already, leaving season 2 to up the stakes in the villain department. One Piece's season 1 villains changed the game of live-action anime adaptations. Traditionally, these productions don't have a high enough budget to make the high fantasy wonders of anime appear, in any way, real. This applies, in particular, to larger-than-life villains with dark transformation sequences and horror-inspired costumes.

Moving on from One Piece season 1, the Straw Hat Pirates - Monkey D. Luffy, Roronoa Zoro, Nami, Usopp, and Sanji - will be entering the Grand Line, a critically dangerous stretch of ocean where the world's most savage pirates operate. To seek the One Piece, a mysterious treasure teased by Gol D. Roger at his execution, Monkey D. Luffy will be leading his crew into terrible peril with the possibility of great reward. In season 2, One Piece's villains will be stronger than ever before, and lots are coming.

One Piece season 1 was based on the East Blue saga, which had a more episodic structure compared to what comes next. While Baroque Works syndicate will continue to be an obstacle through a potential season 3.

9 Buggy the Clown

Jeff Ward

Along with Arlong, Buggy was one of the main villains of One Piece season 1, and fortunately, he is confirmed to reappear in season 2. Played by Jeff Ward, this fantastical figure can remove body parts at will and send them on seek-and-destroy missions. Ward was just the right mix of cynical and fun-loving as Buggy, so his role as a ing villain in the Loguetown arc is something to look forward to.

One Piece Arabasta Saga Arcs

Anime Episodes

Reverse Mountain

61-63

Whiskey Peak

64-67

Little Garden

70-77

Drum Island

78-91

Arabasta

92-130

The phenomenal visual and practical effects used to create Buggy speak volumes about what viewers can expect from the villains of One Piece season 2. Kaji Productions, Tomorrow Studios, and Shueisha used a blue screen to make Buggy, as well as a full digi double. A full 3D CG version of the actor was made and combined with footage to create the effects needed to portray Buggy's bizarre powers. Buggy plays an important role in the Loguetown Arc, which wasn't included in season 1 but will now.

8 Captain Alvida

Ilia Isorelýs Paulino

Ilia Isorelýs Paulino masterfully portrayed "Iron Mace" Alvida, leader of the Alvida Pirates, in One Piece season 1, and is due a comeback in season 2. A rough prediction of the events of One Piece season 2 entails a Loguetown storyline whereby Alvida and Buggy team up to defeat the Straw Hats. This makes sense as it would tie off two of season 1's main villains nicely before Luffy and company enter the Grand Line. Despite this, the Loguetown arc probably shouldn't take up too much time in season 2, as the season has so much of the Arabasta saga to cover.

One Piece Season 2 Cast Guide: Every New & Returning Character

The cast of One Piece season 2 includes a lot of new characters, from allies to villains who Luffy and his Straw Hat pirates will run into.

In the One Piece anime, Alvida's Devil Fruit powers allowed her to become slippery and slide along surfaces to enable speed, agility, and strength. This ability also enabled her to drastically change her physical appearance. Alvida's controversial power could risk spreading body negativity, so it's uncertain if the live-action Netflix adaptation will pursue it Hopefully, the show will likely tackle Alvida's arc with sensitivity.

7 Mr. 9

Daniel Lasker

Mr. 9 One Piece.

Daniel Lasker is a genius casting for Mr. 9, who will debut in One Piece season 2. All set to appear in Reverse Mountain, Lasker should bring an ethereal elegance to the Baroque Works villain. Lasker is a key character in that he befriends Nefertari Vivi during their time together in Baroque Works. This may make Nefertari Vivi seem like a villain in One Piece season 2, but the truth is much more complex.

Netflix Has A Big One Piece Problem To Solve That Will Only Get Worse As The Live-Action Show Goes On

One Piece season 1 was as accurate as possible to the manga, but the Netflix live-action show now has a difficult challenge for season 2 and beyond.

With Vivi and other Baroque Works villains to worry about during One Piece season 2, the Straw Hat Pirates will have their work cut out. However, Lasker isn't playing a character with serious Devil Fruit abilities. This could make him easier to defeat and significantly easier for Netflix to adapt. Nonetheless, Mr. 9's acrobatics and weapons demonstrate why he is a member of Baroque Works and should create some of season 2's peak moments.

6 Miss Valentine

Jazzara Jaslyn

One Piece Miss Valentine.

Miss Valentine is normally paired with Mr. 5 in One Piece, both of whom can expect an introduction in season 2. This scary villain can change her mass via her Devil Fruit powers, resulting in her becoming so heavy she can crush opponents by sitting on them. This intriguing ability is an example of the many novel One Piece powers that season 2 should dive into for the first time but may be one of the easier ones to adapt.

Miss Valentine, otherwise known as Mikita, will be one of the primary antagonists of the Whisky Peak arc and should have a more ing role in Little Garden. As such, it seems like Mikita can be expected to appear around halfway through season 2, leaning towards the start. Mikita's interactions with David Dastmalchian's Mr. 3 should be a huge highlight of Little Garden since both Dastmalchian and Mikita actress Jazzara Jaslyn are excellent.

5 Mr. 5

Camrus Johnson

Mr. 5 One Piece

Camrus Johnson is set to star in One Piece season 2 as Mr. 5. Mr. 5 will be accompanying Miss Valentine on her misadventures in the Whisky Peak arc, presenting major hostility toward the Straw Hat Pirates. While Mr. 5 and Miss Valentine can be expected to have a major role in this arc, their importance will likely be reduced for Little Garden, which is far from the anime's most popular arc.

Despite not playing too big of a role in the story, Mr. 5 is a relatively powerful Devil Fruit whose powers come from the Bomu Bomu no Mi, or Boom-Boom Fruit. It allows Mr. 5 to make any part of his body explode, which should make for some fun action sequences in One Piece season 2. It's unclear how big of a role the low-level Baroque Works will have in season 2 compared to the manga, especially because the actual Arabasta arc is being saved for season 3.

4 Miss All Sunday

Lera Abova

Lera Abova will the cast of One Piece season 2 as the legendary Nico Robin. This fan-favorite may start life in One Piece as a villain, but she has a very special future ahead of her. This makes her casting key to the continued success of the series. While One Piece fans have long known Robin and her backstory, those who are discovering One Piece for the first time in live-action will meet her as a villain.

Nico Robin appears near the end of the Whisky Peak arc and would make a great focal point for One Piece season 2. Given that Arabasta won't happen just yet, Crocodile should have a minor role in season 2, preparing him to take over as the main villain of season 3. However, while Crocodile remains in the shadows, Miss All Sunday could perhaps be season 2's main villain considering the popularity of the character and Robin's importance in the rest of the story.

3 Mr. 3

David Dastmalchian

David Dastmalchian's casting as Mr.3 is one of the most exciting things about One Piece season 2. Dastmalchian recently shined in 2023's Late Night with the Devil but has been in plenty of great movies and shows, from The Dark Knight to Dune. Dastmalchian's experience positions him to portray the dangerous, slightly pathetic, but always humorous Mr. 3 to perfection. Mr. 3's ever-changing and iconic hairdo is a heavily anticipated facet of One Piece season 2.

Mr. 3 should appear in the Little Garden arc in One Piece season 2.

One Piece season 2 will feature Baroque Works, one of the main groups of villains to face Luffy and his crew in future episodes. Mr. 3 may be one of the funniest of Baroque Works and is a great example of how unique One Piece villains can be. One Piece has always been defined by the starkly original design of Oda's characters and Mr. 3 is one of the best examples of this, displaying a mafia sensibility that doesn't take itself too seriously.

2 Wapol

Rob Coletti

Monkey D. Luffy will eventually have to face the villain Wapol, who will be represented by Rob Coletti in One Piece season 2. Wapol is the main antagonist of the Drum Island arc, which should be the final arc of season 2. The Drum Island arc is where we'll get to meet live-action Tony Tony Chopper and learn about his heartbreaking origin story.

As he features in the Drum Island arc, Wapol will likely be introduced at the end of season 2, allowing him to be a climactic villain for the season. Wapol isn't connected to Baroque Works or anything else in the Arabasta saga, so it remains to be seen whether the Netflix show will tie his character into a larger story or not. Regardless, the Netflix live-action show has faithfully adapted Eiichiro Oda's ridiculously fantastic world before, so hopefully Wapol's paramecia fruit transformations will be as ludicrous as they should be.

1 Sir Crocodile

Joe Manganiello

Joe Manganiello will play Crocodile in One Piece season 2, bringing to life one of Eiichiro Oda's most famed villains. Also known as Mr. 0, Crocodile is the leader of Baroque Works. Crocodile is also one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea during the events of Arabasta and one of the most dangerous people alive. Season 2 will probably finish off by teasing Crocodile's presence since his time to shine will be in season 3.

As one of the hardest foes that Monkey D. Luffy will face in season 2, Crocodile will also present an adaptation challenge for One Piece. Crocodile ate the Sand-Sand Devil Fruit, enabling him to turn into sand. Crocodile can manipulate sand beyond a simple transformation. The "Desert King" can turn parts of his body into weapons made of sand and can cause aggressive storms, making One Piece season 2 a tantalizing prospect.
