We officially have a premiere date for Outlander franchise. This is our very first spinoff for the romantacy series, and it's arriving at the perfect time considering the central TV show's impending close. Outlander season 8 will mark the end of Jamie and Claire's story, but the fact that we already have more stories on the way is deeply reassuring. Still, it's difficult to say at this point what the full future of the Outlander franchise looks like. If 2025 goes well, however, we could have a lot to look forward to.

Outlander: Blood of My Blood, which will Outlander season 8, so we can almost certainly count on the prequel working in tandem with the parent series. It should make for an excellent viewing experience as 2025 sets up the franchise's continued longevity.

It Looks Like 2025 Is Going To Be Non-Stop Outlander

Outlander Season 7.2 - Outlander: Blood Of My Blood - Outlander Season 8

Outlander: Blood of My Blood premiering in August 2025 means there will still be time for Outlander season 8 to release only a few months later in November. If this is the case, it would mean that this year is the Outlander franchise's biggest yet, with season 7 wrapping up at the beginning of the year, Blood of My Blood premiering in the summer, and season 8 hitting Starz as 2025 comes to a close.

Outlander season 7, part 2, premiered on November 22, 2024. With filming for season 8 wrapped last year and Blood of My Blood releasing in August, November 2025 is a reasonable window based on the show's pre-pandemic release schedule.

In recent seasons, we have had to wait a couple of years at a time for new episodes of Outlander, owing largely to COVID-19 and the various writer and actor strikes. It seems that our patience is being rewarded with three separate installments of the franchise, all in one year. With non-stop Outlander in 2025, we have plenty of room to hope that Starz is planning significant growth going forward.

If 2025's Outlander Projects Are A Success, More Spinoffs Are Sure To Follow

Loyal Viewership Is Key

If all goes well, we can buckle up for more great years to come.

Performance for the central Outlander series has dropped in recent years, which may be why Claire and Jamie's story is coming to a close before author Diana Gabaldon finishes her book series. However, the existence of Blood of My Blood indicates that Starz knows this franchise still has potential. There are dozens of ways Outlander can be expanded, and the fact that 2025 is packed full of content hints that it is only a matter of time before we get word of more spinoffs. However, this will likely depend on how Blood of My Blood and Outlander season 8 perform. If all goes well, we can buckle up for more great years to come.
