Warning! Spoilers for Outlander season 7, part 2 ahead!Outlander's eighth and final season is on the way, and there is a lot of room to make predictions and theorize about what will happen next. The finale of season 7 had one of the most intriguing plot twists of the series, and it will be up to Outlander season 8 to deliver on the biggest questions this cliffhanger left on audiences' minds. Of course, there are an additional six seasons worth of plotlines that will have to be wrapped up as well. This will all come down to the biggest question of the overarching romantacy series—how will Claire and Jamie's story end?
The end of Outlander is in sight. Just about anything could happen, but we have some theories.
10 Outlander Season 8 Will Reveal Faith Didn't Live After All
Season 7's Twist May Be Misleading
The big Faith twist at the end of Outlander took everyone by surprise. The Starz series has officially departed from Diana Gabaldon's books, so it's currently unclear whether Claire's theory about Fanny and Jane's mother being her daughter is correct. It could be that the season 7 finale was aimed at misleading audiences, so season 8 may break Claire's heart all over again.
It seems strange that Master Raymond would revive Faith Fraser only to keep the baby away from Claire and Jamie. It could be that rather than this, Master Raymond is intentionally misleading Claire. His goal may be to motivate her to begin exploring her blue-aura healing power, which she would surely do if there was evidence that it could actually bring back the dead. Of course, only Outlander season 8 can say for certain.
9 If Faith Lived, She Was Raised In The 20th Century
Master Raymond May Have Taken Faith Through The Stones
Of course, Claire's theory that Faith lived may be entirely correct. She tends to have good instincts, and though the evidence is a bit hazy, the fact that Fanny knows the 20th-century song "I Do Like to Be Beside the Seaside" is intriguing. The girl told Claire that her mother used to sing it to her, so it's evidence that, whether this really is Faith Fraser, she has some connection to the future.
She was too little to the song Claire sang her in Outlander season 2, so Faith must have learned "I Do Like to Be Beside the Seaside" elsewhere.
If Faith Pocock truly is Faith Fraser, then it seems likely that she would have spent some time in the 20th century. She was too little to the song Claire sang her in Outlander season 2, so Faith must have learned "I Do Like to Be Beside the Seaside" elsewhere. Perhaps, after Master Raymond revived the infant, he took her to the 20th century to be raised—maybe even by someone else with a connection to Claire.
8 Claire Will Learn To Master Her Healing Powers In Outlander Season 8
Claire Is A Magical Healer Like Master Raymond
There's no question that Claire has a ion for healing in Outlander. She is a skilled doctor and was a practiced combat nurse before that. Still, Claire's ability to heal the body goes far beyond her practical experience. Master Raymond told her way back in Outlander season 2 that she possessed a magical ability connected to her blue aura. Then, several seasons later, the Native American healer Nayawenne prophesized that Claire would master her power when all her hair turned white.
Looking at Claire's overarching story in Outlander, it's clear she is destined to become a powerfully magical healer. She will become the true La Dame Blanche—the White Lady. It seems that Master Raymond's return in the season 7 finale, as well as the tease about Faith's resurrection, will lead to Claire's destiny finally being realized in season 8.
7 Master Raymond Will Have Something To Do With The Fraser Prophecy
Brianna's Prophecy Still Hasn't Been Answered
Another plotline that hasn't received much attention recently is the Fraser Prophecy. It was for this premonition that Geillis Duncan tried to travel through time to murder Brianna since it was said that the Scottish king would only be revealed following the death of a 200-year-old baby. Since Claire traveled forward in time 200 years while pregnant with Brianna, she was technically two centuries old upon her birth.
The Outlander TV show's version of the prophecy has essentially been forgotten since Geillis was killed. However, the return of Master Raymond may again lead to more answers. This mysterious character is pulling the strings around every corner, and it seems he would have something to do with this time-travel-dependent prophecy. This is sure to tie into some greater plan.
6 Jamie Will Face Consequences For Reg From The Continental Army
It May Not Be So Easy To Skip Out On Service
Outlander season 7 saw Jamie rather dramatically resign from the Continental Army. After Claire was shot, he used her blood to write a message on the bare back of a messenger, and there was no further communication from there on out. When the Frasers decided to head back to the Ridge, Claire asked Jamie whether that would be a problem considering his post as a brigadier general. Jamie only ominously answered that it likely would be.
Jamie has spent a lot of time in Outlander connected to various movements, from the Jacobites to the British and then the Continental Army. While the latter was something he was actually eager to be a part of, Claire getting injured was never part of the bargain. The couple is ready for a quiet life at Fraser's Ridge, but this surely won't be so easy to achieve in Outlander season 8.
5 Jamie & Lord John Will Patch Up Their Relationship In Outlander Season 8
This Friendship Can't Be Left So Broken
It's been hard to watch Jamie and Lord John be at odds in Outlander season 7. The latter man married Claire when they both believed Jamie to be dead, and during a night of extreme grief, the newlyweds consummated their marriage. Once Jamie returned, Lord John couldn't keep it to himself that he had carnal knowledge of Claire. He itted the truth—including the fact that he and Claire had both been imagining that they were having sex with Jamie—and was beaten to a bloody pulp.
The ending of Outlander season 7 saw Jamie and Lord John come to tolerate one another. However, they are nowhere near their old friendship. Of course, people grow apart every day, and Outlander could easily end with these two never reestablishing their previous relationship. However, this would be too bitter an ending for these pals.
4 Jamie Will Die In Outlander Season 8
Outlander Has Always Hinted At A Final Separation
Outlander has hinted from day one that Jamie would die, and Claire would return to the 20th century. Back in season 1, Frank Randall saw Jamie's ghost peering longingly up at Claire. This implied that the 18th-century Scott had been waiting centuries to be ed in death by the woman he loved. If Claire and Jamie grew old together and died warm in their beds in the past, then this ghost wouldn't have needed to long for his wife.
If Claire and Jamie grew old together and died warm in their beds in the past, then this ghost wouldn't have needed to long for his wife.
Outlander season 8 will have to answer for Jamie's ghost somehow. While we hope for a happy ending, there are more hints within the overarching series that Claire and Jamie will remain star-crossed lovers, separated by destiny and time. If Jamie dies, Claire will surely begin her journey as La Dame Blanche, essentially taking over for Master Raymond as the immortal, time-traveling healer. This would explain why Jamie would be in the ever-after alone.
3 Outlander Season 8 Will Tie In With The Blood Of My Blood Spinoff
The New Spinoff Can Weave Into Outlander's Ending
Though Outlander will come to a close with season 8, this isn't the end of the on-screen franchise. The spinoff series Outlander: Blood of My Blood is set to premiere in the summer of 2025 before season 8 hits Starz. The new series will center on Jamie and Claire's respective parents, with one set falling in love in the 18th century while the other has their romance in the 20th.
With a new Outlander series on the way, it seems likely that season 8 would somehow tie into the new story. Season 7 has already begun the groundwork in this regard. The episodes reintroduced Brian Fraser, and there were various teases regarding his own forbidden romance with Jamie's mother, Ellen MacKenzie. It's possible there will be further crossover between Outlander and Blood of My Blood.
2 Someone Will Plant The Forget-Me-Nots At Craigh Na Dun
These Flowers Started It All In Outlander
Another question presented early in Outlander that the series will have to answer involves the forget-me-nots at Craigh Na Dun. It was for these flowers that Claire decided to take a trip alone to the standing stones, thus leading her to her first jump through time. The forget-me-nots stood out to Claire since they are not native to Scotland. She was curious about how they could have come to be there.
If Claire had not noticed the forget-me-nots, she would never have met Jamie Fraser. The fact that they shouldn't have even been there indicates that someone planted them, knowing full well that the flowers would begin Claire's journey. Outlander season 8 can create a poetic, full-circle moment by including a scene in which someone plants the forget-me-nots by the stones. Perhaps Claire's own grandchildren, Jemmy and Mandy, will be the ones to begin the story in Outlander.
1 Jemmy & Mandy Will Master Time Travel In Outlander Season 8
Jemmy & Mandy Are The Future Of Time Travel
There's something special about Jemmy and Mandy in Outlander, but the series has yet to explore this fully. The two children were born from two time travelers, Brianna and Roger, and, therefore, seem far more powerful than their predecessors. They share an intimate, psychic connection with one another and the standing stones. Once they get the hang of time travel, Jemmy and Mandy could be as powerful as Master Raymond himself.
Once they get the hang of time travel, Jemmy and Mandy could be as powerful as Master Raymond himself.
As the next generation of time travelers, Jemmy and Mandy mastering the use of standing stones is intriguing. Outlander season 8 will bring the story to a close, but exploring Claire's grandchildren's stories could be an excellent way for the franchise to expand further. Outlander: Blood of My Blood is already on the way, but perhaps Outlander's final season could set up another spinoff series as well.

Outlander follows Claire Randall, a married nurse from 1945, who is transported back to 1743 Scotland. Amidst political intrigue and danger, she navigates life in the past and becomes torn between loyalty to her husband and the love for a dashing young warrior.
