Warning! Spoilers for Ozark season 4 part 1.

Netflix's Ozark season 4 still has seven episodes left to go — here's everything we know about part 2 of the final season. After leaving audiences on a major cliffhanger at the end of Ozark season 3, the Netflix show picked up right where it left off, with Wendy and Marty in Mexico. The main story of Ozark season 4 followed the Byrde family as they tried to figure out a way to cut a deal for Omar Navarro with the FBI, all while navigating their increasingly complicated relationship with their children, Charlotte and Jonah. In cutting a deal with the FBI, the Byrdes finally see a way out from under the control of the cartel in the hopes that they can undo some of the damage they've done through philanthropy.

Of course, major obstacles remain in Marty and Wendy's way, including Darlene Snell's heroin operation, their son's betrayal, and the increasingly small circle of people they can actually trust. season 4 also introduces the new character Javi Elizonndro, the nephew of cartel leader Omar Navarro and someone who doesn't understand his uncle's affinity for the Byrde family.

This all culminates in a violent ending for Ozark season 4 part 1, as the pieces begin to fall into place for the show's endgame. Omar Navarro is largely out of the picture (for now) and his nephew Javi has taken control of the cartel. In doing so, he murdered Wyatt and Darlene, sending Julia Garner's Ruth on a warpath for revenge. This will surely test Marty's allegiance to his former ally — will he sacrifice himself to protect Ruth from the brutality of the Navarro Cartel, or will he sacrifice her to save himself and his family? Here's everything we know about Ozark season 4 part 2.

Ozark Season 4 Part 2 Releases In 2022

ozark season 4 cast character guide

While Netflix hasn't announced a release date for Ozark season 4 part 2, the final 7 episodes are slated to debut sometime this year. Filming for the entirety of the final season took place from November 2020 to October 2021 so it's safe to say that all 14 episodes of Ozark season 4 are complete. The post-production process might take some time, but by looking at the slate of Netflix originals some insight can be gleaned. As one of the streamer's more high-profile shows, Netflix won't want to drop the show at a time when it could conflict with their other major releases. With shows like Bridgerton season 2 and The Crown season 5 dropping in March and November respectively, Ozark season 4 part 2 could premiere sometime this summer, presumably after Stranger Things season 4 drops. Going off previous seasons that saw the first and second seasons debut in late-summer, it's possible Netflix is aiming for a date in July or August.

Ozark Season 4 Part 2 Story Setup

Ruth shouting in Ozark.

season 4 part 1 put to rest many theories as to how events would unfold, leaving its characters in an unexpected and precarious position. The Byrde family is in danger — even if they survive to the end of the series, it seems unlikely that Marty and Wendy's marriage will come out of the events unscathed. Ruth has reached a point of no return, and is almost certainly going to go up against the cartel in Ozark season 4 part 2. Mel Sattam is a few steps away from discovering the Byrde family's allegiance with the cartel as he continues his search for Helen Pierce. He also knows about Special Agent Maya Miller's connection to the Byrde family and with her willingness to go rogue proven by her arrest of Omar Navarro during Ozark season 4 part 1's ending, it's possible the pair could team up to bring down the Byrdes once and for all.

Will Ozark Season 5 Happen?

ozark season 4 trailer

Ozark season 5 is unlikely to happen for a few reasons. Bateman has previously said that Ozark would likely run around four or five seasons and comments from showrunner Chris Mundy backed this up. While a revival at some point down the line is not out of the question in today's cultural landscape, it seems unlikely that Ozark would receive one, both because it would stretch believability and because when Netflix ends a show, they usually stick with it. Unfortunately for fans, Ozark season 4 is more than likely the show's last.
