Fun and cozy MMO Elderwood area for relics, there is also a brilliant main quest to discover what happened to all the humans and why they've started returning. As part of the main questline you will be sent into various mysterious vaults to unlock their secrets, beginning with the Temple of the Waves.

Palia does a great job of stepping you through the main quests, so there isn't any need to worry about doing things out of order or too soon. Once Auni has given you a strange, ancient device, and you've spoken to Jina, the quest to unlock the Temple of the Waves will begin. This will involve solving an Ancient Battery Puzzle and lead to you getting a glider for better travel.

Where To Find The Night Sky Temple

Follow The Main Questline

After completing “Ancient Battery” and “Like a Bird”, the quest “Echoes of the Unknown” will begin with Jina asking you to explore the Temple of the Waves. Eventually, this will lead you to a sliding puzzle of a fish, which once solved will automatically start the next quest, “Vault of the Waves”. For this part of the story, you will need to meet Jina at the Night Sky Temple, a set of ruins that can be found on the hill very close to the Daiya Family Farm.

Palia: How To Get Your Own Stable

Palia's new expansion, the Elderwood, gives you the chance to place a stable sign on your home lot to make fast travel easier than ever.

Once inside, you will be able to interact with a strange stone device at the base of the mural. From there, you will learn about bundles and know what you will need to complete the Vault of the Waves bundles for rewards. You will need to return to the Night Sky Temple each time you want to add an item to the relevant bundle; however, the item does not need to be in your inventory for it to be accessible.

How To Complete The Spooky Bundle

A Great Starting Point With The Best Rewards

To complete the Spooky Bundle, you will need to use both the Fishing and Bug Catching skills. Four creatures will need to be caught: a Garden Mantis, a Vampire Crab, a Mutated Angler, and a Void Ray. The rewards for this bundle are great and really come in handy later when catching more difficult fish.

Rewards:

  • 100 Gold
  • 10 Tuning Forks
  • 1 Major Hook Time Booster
  • 1 Minor Rod Health Booster
  • 1 Major Rod Recovery Booster
  • 1 Major Safe Zone Speed Booster
  • 1 Major Safe Zone Size Booster

Where To Find A Garden Mantis

The Garden Mantis is relatively easy to find as they spawn at any time in the Kilima Valley zone. They are found around Kilima Lake, and although they are startled easily, they don't move very fast and only take a couple of smoke bombs to subdue. I found the best place to get a Garden Mantis is the large grassy area south of Leafhopper Hills, close to the broken dock.

Where To Find A Vampire Crab

Vampire Crabs are a little trickier as they can only be found in one area and only at certain times, making them highly sought after. The distinctive red crabs can be spotted in the Flooded Fortress area of Bahari Bay between 6pm and 3am. They are pretty quick, and I recommend using Sticky Smoke Bombs to make sure they don't get away.

Where To Find A Mutated Angler

Just like the Vampire Crab, the Mutated Angler can only be found in a limited number of places in Palia. They swim in cave ponds such as the one in the Pavel mine, The Underground, or the Temple of the Waves.

Worms can be bought from Zeki's store for 50 gold for five worms. Alternative worms can be created using the Worm Farm, which becomes available at Fishing level four. While star quality meals will yield the most amount of worms, one serving of grilled fish is a quick and easy way to get eight worms.

I recommend fishing for the Mutated Angler in the Pavel Mines in Bahari Bay. Using regular worms at any time of the day will attract one of these unpleasant-looking fish.

Where To Find A Void Ray

The final fish for the Spooky Bundle is a little tougher to get as the Void Ray is an epic fish, meaning it is much less likely to appear than other fish. Just as with the Mutated Angler, the Void Ray can be found in caves at any time, and I recommend the Pavel Mines again as an excellent spot.

How To Increase Focus In Palia

In Palia players will want to expedite their XP gain as much as possible, which can be done by increasing their Focus Bar for max potential.

These large purple rays require Glow Worms to catch, which can either be bought from Einar after reaching level 10 Fishing or created using the Glow Worm Farm available when you reach level seven in the Fishing skill.

How To Complete The Freshwater Bundle

The Simplest Of The Bundles To Complete

The Freshwater Bundle is perhaps the most straightforward of all the Vault of the Waves bundles to complete. You will need to bring: an Inky Dragonfly, a star quality Trout Dinner, five HydratePro Fertilizers, and one Giant Goldfish. This bundle requires the Bug Catching, Fishing, and Cooking skills to complete.

Rewards:

  • 1 portion of Bouillabaisse
  • The Bouillabaisse Recipe

Where To Find An Inky Dragonfly

The Inky Dragonfly can be found in Bahari Bay, close to rivers and ponds, at any time of the day. They are a little darker than the other dragonflies in the area, with pale teal wings. Inky Dragonflies are very easily spooked, and I found it best to use Sticky Smoke Bombs, as they are also relatively fast.

How To Get A Star Quality Trout Dinner

The recipe for a Trout Dinner can be found in Einar's Cave after reaching level three friendship with him. The meal itself is very simple and requires a stove, a prep station, and an oven.

Rainbow Trout is the easiest trout to catch as it can be found in Kilima's rivers at any time with no bait needed.

To achieve star quality, ensure you use star-quality ingredients by ticking the box when cooking.

Where To Find HydratePro Fertilizer

HydratePro Fertilizer is the easiest item to obtain in all the bundles, as it can be purchased. Zeki's General Store sells 20 HydratePro Fertilizers for 40 gold. Best of all, when you buy something from the store, Zeki will send you a Lucky Coin as thanks.

Where To Find A Giant Goldfish

The Giant Goldfish can be found in ponds all over Kilima Valley and Bahari Bay at any time. You will need Glow Worms to grab one of these huge goldfish and a lot of patience, as they are an epic rarity. While any pond will do, I found the Mirror Pond in the north of Kilima Valley to be the best spot to catch them.

How To Complete The Beach Bundle

Requires Patience With Random Drops

As the name suggests, for the Beach Bundle, you will need to head to the beach, specifically the Bahari Bay Coast. There are four items required: A Green Pearl, a Stripeshell Snail, a Blue Marlin, and one serving of Sushi. This bundle will require Fish, Cooking, Bug Catching, and Foraging skills.

Rewards:

  • 30 Worms
  • 30 Glow Worms

Where To Find A Green Pearl

The Green Pearl can be frustrating to find, as its drop rate is very low. Pearls can be found by opening Unopened Oysters, which are dotted all over the ground along the Bahari coastline from Beachcomber Cove to Coral Shores. Oysters drop Oyster Meat and Pearls, with just a 3% chance of a Green Pearl.

Where To Find A Stripeshell Snail

Stripeshell Snails can be found between 6PM and 3AM along the Bahari Bay coastline. They are very easy to spot with purple shells that make them stand out from the more common green snails in the area. Stripeshell Snails take a few smoke bombs to stun, and I recommend using Sneaky Smoke Smokes not to spook them.

Where To Find A Blue Marlin

Staying on the Bahari Bay coast, Blue Marlin can be caught at any time using regular Worms. I caught mine fishing off the pier close to the Lighthouse, but it took me several hours to hook the rare fish. I recommend using a Rod Health Booster if possible, as the Blue Marlin can be tricky to reel in.

How To Get Sushi

Finally, you will need to deliver a serving of Sushi to complete the bundle. Sushi is easy to prepare, and the dish doesn't need to be of star quality to be accepted. The trick is getting the recipe, which can only be fished out of ponds using Glow Worms and can be frustrating to find.

How To Complete The Magic Bundle

Contains The Most Difficult Catch

The final bundle needed for the Vault of the Waves is the Magic Bundle, which can be the trickiest of the group. This bundle needs: one portion of Fisherman's Brew, an Enchanted Pupfish, a Shimmerfin, and a Long Nosed Unicorn Fish. This bundle primarily uses the Fishing skill, with some Cooking for the brew.

Rewards:

  • 1 Honey Lure

How To Get Fisherman's Brew

The recipe for Fisherman's Brew can be bought from Einar for 1000 gold once you've reached level five in Fishing.

Fisherman's Brew can be consumed and will increase the safe zone when fishing for eight minutes. The safe zone is the area you need to keep the fish inside when reeling them in, depicted as green brackets.

You will need to gather Emerald Carpet Moss and Crystal Lake Lotus, which can both be found close to Kilima Lake. After that, cook the brew on a campfire and keep one portion for the bundle.

Where To Find An Enchanted Pupfish

The Enchanted Pupfish can be caught at any time of day and can be found in Kilima Lake. You will need Glow Worms to attract this small fish's attention, but they are not too challenging to reel in. I found the best spot to be close to the bridges at the edge of Fisherman's Lagoon.

Where To Find A Shimmerfin

The Shimmerfin can also be found in Kilima Lake, this time using regular Worms. This small purple fish can be caught at any time of day. For me, the best place is Fisherman's Lagoon, where I can fish from the same dock as Einar.

Where To Find A Long Nosed Unicorn Fish

Lastly, there is the Long Nosed Unicorn Fish, which is incredibly hard to catch. This was the last item I needed for all four Vault bundles, and it took me a long time and was difficult, as the fish will thrash in the water far more than others.

Fishing attachments can be bought from Einar and will either cost gold or Fishing Medals, depending on the attachment you want.

The Long Nosed Unicorn Fish can only be found along the Bahari Coast between 6AM and 6PM using Glow Worms. I caught mine close to the Lighthouse, and used a fishing attachment to boost my rod health and Fisherman's Brew.

Once all the Vault of the Waves bundles have been completed, you will get the Something's in the Water achievement and 60 Renown. Finishing this bundle will also release Ancient Fish into the world of Palia. Ancient Fish are epic purple fish that are required to complete the Kilima and Bahari Fish Collector achievement.
