Heartwood in Palia is a vital resource when it concerns being able to upgrade the players’ tools, but it can be a bit tricky to get. While trees with Heartwood are fairly common, players will not be able to chop them down with their first axe. This can confuse players who are just starting out, as many of the starting axe upgrades require Heartwood.

Palia is an cozy MMO where players can build a community with their friends. It has the feel of games such as Stardew Valley but with the option to play with many more friends. Like many other open-world adventure games, there is a heavy emphasis on building and crafting, and players will need Heartwood to get past the first few upgrades.

How To Find Heartwood In Palia

If players have made their way to Bahari Bay in Palia 's Open Beta, it is quite likely they have seen this resource as the trees there all drop Heartwood. There are also blue, glowing trees that will also drop Flow-Infused Wood, but players who attempt to chop these trees down will find that their axe breaks before the health bar of the tree is depleted. Players will need to follow a few specific steps to get enough Heartwood to chop these bigger trees down.

First, players will need to talk to Ashura to get the Makeshift Axe at the Foraging Guild Store. This first upgrade will be free, but players will have to reach Level 3 and then Forage to get the Standard Axe Recipe from Ashura for 250 Gold. This will allow players to craft the Standard Axe, chop down some bigger trees, and cut down smaller trees much faster.

The recipe for a Standard Axe is 1x Makeshift Axe, 20x Sapwood Plank, and 5x Copper Bar.

For players who then head to Bahari Bay or purchase the next recipe for the Fine Axe, they might feel confused as the Fine Axe recipe requires 20x Heartwood Planks, but the Standard Axe is still unable to chop down the larger trees in Bahari Bay. Most of the time, crafting an item in Minecraft, which is very similar to Palia, does not require an unobtainable item to craft the upgrade needed to acquire that item. This is still the case in Palia, but players will need to look for a particular type of tree to gain enough Heartwood to level up their axe.

In Bahari Bay, players will need to search for small, glowing trees. They will be much smaller than their counterparts and can be a little hard to spot. The Standard Axe will take a little while to chop one of these trees down, but after doing so, these small trees will drop a few planks of Heartwood. Find enough of them, and players will be able to get 20x Heartwood Planks, which is enough for the next upgrade.

The Fine Axe requires 1x Standard Axe, 20x Heartwood Planks, and 5x Iron Bars. Players should be able to mine Iron with the Standard Pick and do not need to upgrade that until after they can chop down the bigger trees. The Fine Axe can then chop down any of the trees in Bahari Bay, and players should be able to collect Heartwood much more quickly. This will allow them to upgrade their tools and collect more resources in Palia.
