Inspired by the Percy Jackson book series, Disney's Percy Jackson and the Olympians will adapt one book for each season of the Disney+ series, starting with Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief. Percy Jackson and the Olympians follows the adventures of Percy and his friends from Camp Half-Blood, a haven for the children of gods that resembles a summer camp.

Percy discovers his heritage when he is still in middle school and ends up in the middle of conflicts between the gods, setting out on quests to help bring them to an end. Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief sees Percy framed for stealing the lightning bolt of Zeus, with the first season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians following his quest to clear his name. As such, the first season of the series has already set up a lot of the future major players in the story of Percy Jackson and the Olympians via the show's talented cast.

Walker Scobell As Percy Jackson

Percy Jackson is the son of Poseidon, the Greek god of the sea.

Beginning with the titular Percy Jackson, Walker Scobell brings the hero to life in Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Taking over the role of Percy from Logan Lerman in the previous Percy Jackson movies, Scobell brings a much more age-accurate, faithful performance to the hero of the series. Percy Jackson and the Olympians centers on Percy as he discovers he’s the son of the Greek god Poseidon, embarking on a quest to clear his name after he’s framed for the theft of Zeus’ lightning bolt.

In of prior filmography, Scobell does not have a wealth of acting experience given his young age. That said, Scobell is best known for playing the younger version of Ryan Reynolds’ character, Adam Reed, in Netflix's The Adam Project. This role was his professional debut before Scobell also appeared in the 2022 action-comedy Secret Headquarters before landing the role of Percy Jackson he is now perfectly bringing to life via the Disney+ show.

Leah Sava Jeffries As Annabeth Chase

Annabeth Chase is the daughter of Athena, the Greek god of wisdom and battle strategy.

Annabeth Chase is played by Percy Jackson and the Olympians cast member Leah Sava Jeffries. Annabeth is a resident of Camp Half-Blood, the place Percy heads to for protection when he discovers his heritage. She has lived there for most of her childhood after learning that her mother is the Greek goddess Athena. Annabeth is fiercely intelligent and a strategic fighter, though begins Percy Jackson and the Olympians as somewhat of an antagonist for Percy. After being chosen as one of his allies on the quest for Zeus’ master bolt, however, the two begin to bond as friends.

While Scobell's acting experience was somewhat limited before Percy Jackson, the same cannot be said for Jeffries. She started her professional acting work as a toddler in commercials before appearing in television shows like Empire. Jeffries has also acted in the thriller Beast alongside Idris Elba and in the Amazon movie Something From Tiffany’s. Jeffries was then cast as Annabeth in 2022, a role that will take her into her teenage years given Percy Jackson and the Olympians' expansive story.

Aryan Simhadri As Grover Underwood

The Satyr protector of Percy Jackson from Camp Half-Blood.

The Percy Jackson and the Olympians cast also includes Aryan Simhadri as Grover Underwood. Though Grover begins both the book and Disney+ series as a classmate of Percy’s, his true nature as a satyr is swiftly revealed. Satyrs serve as protectors in the world of Percy Jackson living undercover to keep an eye on demigods and escort them to Camp Half-Blood. After Grover completes this task regarding Percy, he embarks on the quest to retrieve Zeus' master bolt.

Even more so than Jeffries and especially Scobell, Simhadri has had a solid career that already includes two dozen projects and over a decade of work in television despite his young age. Before being cast in Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Simhadri also appeared in the Cheaper by the Dozen remake on Disney+. Similarly, Simhadri has found a great deal of success in the world of voice-acting, lending his voice to animated shows like Adventure Time, The Casagrandes, Adventures In Wonder Park, and Mira, Royal Detective.

Virginia Kull As Sally Jackson

The mother of Percy who fell in love with Poseidon.

Percy’s mother, Sally Jackson, is played by Percy Jackson and the Olympians cast member Virginia Kull. Sally has kept the truth about Percy’s father from him as long as she can, and when she realizes that his eyes have been opened to the magical world around him, she informs him that the stories he knows about Greek gods are true. Sally then takes Percy to Camp Half-Blood so that he can be safe, even if she does not know when she will see him again.

Virginia Kull has appeared in a variety of TV and movies over the last 20 years. She’ll likely be recognizable to TV fans for her work in the mini-series Gracepoint, as well as the drama Big Little Lies, and the horror series NOS4A2. Jason Mantzoukas is very prolific in the entertainment industry as a writer and podcaster as well as a comic actor, having got his start in improvisational comedy. Mantzoukas has over 100 acting roles to his credit, meaning those who are not necessarily fans of his will be aware of his talents in one way or another. Mantzoukas' most known roles include shows like Twisted Metal and Paper Girls, as well as the likes of Brooklyn Nine-Nine and The Good Place. Similar to Simhadri, Mantzoukas has dipped into voice acting in his career, including roles in animated series like Invincible, Human Resources, HouseBroken, and Star Trek: Prodigy.

Glynn Turman As Chiron AKA Mr. Brunner

The centaur who is responsible for training heroes to survive in the world at Camp Half-Blood.

In Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Glynn Turman stars as Chiron. Chiron is the activities director at Camp Half-Blood, a centaur who is responsible for the training of several Greek heroes and demigods of the past, present, and future. Originally introduced as a disabled Latin teacher named Mr. Brunner, Chiron's true nature is revealed after Percy is escorted to Camp Half-Blood.

Glynn Turman got his start in the entertainment industry as a teenager on Broadway in the 1950s. Since then, his career has been a mix of live-action and animated projects. Turman appeared in shows like The Wire, How To Get Away With Murder, and Mr. Mercedes. He has also voiced characters in shows like The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder. Turman also appeared in a ing role in 80 For Brady and has had rare music video appearances for global stars like Beyoncé.

Lance Reddick As Zeus

The Greek god of the sky and King of the Greek Pantheon.

The late Lance Reddick plays Zeus in Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Zeus is one of the big three gods in the Percy Jackson novels; Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades, who make a pact not to father any more demigods. This pact is mentioned at length in Percy Jackson and the Olympians as any child of the big three, like Percy or Zeus' former daughter Thalia, is labeled as forbidden. Zeus’ role in Percy Jackson cannot be understated as it is his lightning bolt that is stolen in the first season, kicking off the events of the entire series.

Before his tragic death in 2023, Lance Reddick was a prolific actor, especially known for his role in science fiction projects. Some of his most memorable roles are on the television shows Fringe and LOST and in the action movie franchise John Wick. Reddick also lent his voice to numerous video games and podcast series, like Horizon Zero Dawn and Batman Unburied respectively. While it is unclear what will happen with the role of Zeus after Percy Jackson season 1, the opportunity to see Reddick in action one final time will be a tragic gift.

Adam Copeland As Ares

The Greek god of War.

Adam Copeland s the Percy Jackson and the Olympians cast as another of the show's Pantheon of Greek gods. The Greek god of war, Ares is one of the more morally questionable deities in the Percy Jackson universe. His demigod children have one of the rowdiest cabins at Camp Half-Blood as shown by his daughter Clarisse who begins a suitably antagonistic relationship with Percy in Percy Jackson and the Olympians.

Copeland began his time in the entertainment industry as a professional wrestler for the WWE. When he first crossed over into the acting world, Copeland typically appeared as his wrestling persona in television shows. His first big acting role in which he did not play the character of Edge came in the sci-fi series Haven. Since then, he’s also appeared in The Flash and starred in Vikings before landing the role of Ares for Percy Jackson on Disney+.

Toby Stephens As Poseidon

The Greek god of the sea and Percy's father.

Percy’s father, and another of the big three gods in Percy Jackson and the Olympians, is Poseidon, played by Toby Stephens. Poseidon is the god of the seas and is completely absent from Percy's life up until the latter is claimed as a demigod. Percy Jackson and the Olympians adequately depicts the morally gray nature of the gods in that they are absent parents, often only utilizing their children as and when they see fit. Given that Poseidon will receive more development as the series goes on, his and Percy's relationship will be a joy to watch unfold.

Concerning Stephens, the actor is best known for his role as Captain Flint in Black Sails. His role in the Starz series likely led to his casting in Percy Jackson and the Olympians as Jonathan E. Steinberg is the creator of both. Aside from his work in TV, Stephens has voiced James Bond for several radio plays and appeared in many British adaptations of Agatha Christie's novels. Stephens also appeared in shows like Lost In Space, Alex Rider, and Six Four.

Lin-Manuel Miranda As Hermes

The Greek god of travelers, roads, and thieves.

Lin-Manuel Miranda s the Percy Jackson and the Olympians cast on Disney+ as the Greek god Hermes. Hermes is the messenger of the gods who often appears as a helpful guide for Percy throughout the novel series. Interestingly, Hermes is absent from the first book which is a notable change given Miranda's casting in the first season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians​​​​​​.

More so than film or TV, Lin-Manuel Miranda is better known for his work on Broadway in shows like Hamilton and In The Heights. As primarily a musician and writer, Miranda has a lot of credits in certain musicals, though he also has a great deal of film and TV acting credits. Miranda has done voice work for shows like BoJack Horseman and DuckTales but also appeared in live-action roles in projects like His Dark Materials and Weird: The Al Yankovic Story.

Jay Duplass As Hades

The Greek god of the Underworld.

The third, and final, of the big three gods in Percy Jackson and the Olympians is Hades, played by Jay Duplass. Hades is the god of the Underworld, a bitter, sour deity who resents his brothers Zeus and Poseidon for their somewhat mistreatment of him. Hades plays a big role in Percy Jackson and the Olympians as the quest for Zeus' master bolt has the Underworld as its final destination. Hades is the prime suspect in the theft of the master bolt and also holds Percy's mother captive in the Underworld, with both catalyzing Percy's quest.

Hades' actor, Jay Duplass, got his start in the entertainment industry as a writer of short films. Since then, Duplass has gone on to direct, produce, and act in a variety of film and TV projects across Hollywood. Some of his television projects include Drunk History, Transparent, Search Party, and Industry.

Charlie Bushnell As Luke Castellan

The son of Hermes and Percy's first friend at Camp Half-Blood.

The Percy Jackson and the Olympians cast also includes relative newcomer Charlie Bushnell as Luke Castellan. Luke is a long-time friend of Annabeth’s and a son of Hermes. Luke has a central role to play in all of the Percy Jackson novels, with the character becoming a quick friend to Percy upon the latter's introduction to Camp Half-Blood. While not taking part in Percy's quest to find the master bolt, Luke gives the character certain gifts and advice that are integral to Percy's journey in Percy Jackson season 1.

Bushnell has been acting professionally since starting in short films in 2018. His biggest project so far, however, is another Disney+ series, Diary of a Future President. Unfortunately, the series has since been removed from the streaming service, bringing a nice sense of poetic justice to Bushnell's continued success in Percy Jackson and the Olympians​​​​​​.

Dior Goodjohn as Clarisse La Rue: Clarisse La Rue is a daughter of Ares and one of Percy’s bullies when he comes to Camp Half-Blood, but her story arc sees her becoming an ally throughout the stories. Bringing Clarisse to life is Dior Goodjohn, who got her start in the industry playing a younger Santana on Glee. She’s also appeared in the remakes of Head of the Class and Are You Afraid of the Dark?

Andrew Alvarez as Chris Rodriguez: Chris Rodriguez is one of the children of Hermes who spends time with Luke and Percy before the latter embarks on his quest. While Rodriguez will not play a major role in the first few seasons of Percy Jackson, his character will grow in importance when the events of the fourth and fifth books are adapted. Alvarez's former roles include the likes of The Twilight Zone, School Spirits, and Billy the Kid.

Azriel Dalman as Young Percy: In the opening episodes of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, several flashbacks to Percy's childhood are shown. These flashbacks highlight the first times Percy encountered mythical creatures, providing context to his future adventures. Young Percy is played by Azriel Dalman, who has previously appeared in Moonfall and Joe Pickett.

Kathleen Duborg and Threnody Tsai as Helena and Sarah: Helena and Sarah are two siblings of Clarisse in Percy Jackson and the Olympians. The characters appear as antagonists to Percy, often aiding Clarisse in her attempts to bully the titular character. Helena is played by Kathleen Duborg, known for A Brush with Love, Call of the Wild, and Travelers while Sarah is played by Threnody Tsai, whose only other role comes in Vampire Zombies.

Megan Mullally as Alecto aka Mrs. Dodds: Among the Percy Jackson and the Olympian characters who appear early in the series in Mrs. Dodds. The character is Percy’s teacher, and actually a Fury in disguise. She will be portrayed by Megan Mullally who has a long career in the entertainment industry but is best known for her role as Karen Walker in Will And Grace.

Jessica Parker Kennedy as Medusa: Jessica Parker Kennedy’s role as Medusa will only be in the first season of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. When Percy, Grover, and Annabeth set out on their first quest together, they cross paths with the Gorgon, who can turn people to stone. Kennedy is best known for her TV roles in The Secret Circle, Black Sails, and The Flash.

Olivea Morton as Nancy Bobofit: Nancy Bobofit is a bully at Percy’s school, and he inadvertently uses his demigod abilities against her when she angers him, setting off a chain of events that reveals his identity to those around him. ing the cast of Percy Jackson and the Olympians as Nancy is Olivea Morton who, so far, has done a handful of short films and the TV series Angel.
