In a Screen Rant Exclusive, a Percy Jackson season 2 will feature many new characters, including Tantalus (played by Timothy Simons), a ruthless and mean demigod son of Zeus who s the staff at Camp Half-Blood.
While new characters always mean changes, Tantalus will definitely impact the dynamic at Camp Half-Blood in major ways, according to Glynn Turman, who plays Chiron in Disney+’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Screen Rant reporter Liam Crowley caught up with Turman during the red carpet for the 2025 movie Straw, and the actor teased how the power dynamics will change.
Screen Rant: The dynamic with Tantalus in season 2, Timothy Simons is ing the cast, can you tease at all how the power dynamic at Camp Half-Blood is going to be shaken up a little bit?
Glynn Turman: It’s going to be shaken up in a good way. You have to the stakes are even higher now. Everybody is trying to form different alliances, even Chiron gets in a little trouble here and there. You’ll see that in season 2. It’s quite a dynamic.
It looks like Camp Half-Blood and the Percy Jackson and the Olympians cast will be in for some fun chaos right off the bat, and Chiron, specifically, could struggle to cope with the power shift after being unceremoniously removed from his position.
What Glynn Turman's Statement About Tantalus Means
Tantalus Will Have A Major Impact On Camp Half-Blood
The simple inclusion of Turman will undoubtedly excite fans of sins of the Percy Jackson movies was the fact that the 2013 Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters movie removed Tantalus entirely. However, Turman's description of Chiron and the campers getting “shaken up” also serves as a nice indicator that the Disney+ show will continue to stay loyal to the source material.

Percy Jackson Season 2’s Tantalus Addresses His Casting & its His Kids Think He’s Cooler Now
EXCLUSIVE: Percy Jackson & the Olympians season 2 actor Timothy Simons addresses his casting as Tantalus and says his kids now think he is cooler.
Additionally, the way Turman describes Tantalus' influence makes it seem like the Percy Jackson show will add dimension to the character, rather than painting him as a cartoonish caricature of an antagonist. As terrible as Tantalus might be, personality-wise, he still plays an important role in the story of Percy Jackson season 2 pretty quickly after it starts, based on the book. As such, they will need him to cause tension and power struggles without being a completely irredeemable character that the audience wants off the screen. It's a very fine line between the two, and they'll need to balance it well.
Our Take On Tantalus Shaking Things Up
Turman's Description of Tantalus Gives Me Confidence They'll Get The Character Right
Like other Percy Jackson fans, we here at Screen Rant cannot wait to see what the creative team will do with Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2. Disney+ has handled the source material well so far, giving hope that the second season will follow suit. Luckily, Turman's statement about Tantalus gives me confidence that will be the case.
When I read Rick Riordan's book series, Tantalus is a character with whom I have a love-hate relationship, and it looks like I'll probably feel the same way about him in Disney+'s Percy Jackson and the Olympians. It's positive to hear that the character's impact won't be completely negative, according to Turman. However, I'll still be rooting for Chiron to get his job back the entire time because, let's face it, Tantalus is a jerk.
