Nintendo fans are finally going to be able to experience Persona 5 Royal was released in 2019 and added several new features, side activities, and even a brand-new story chapter that followed the events of the original game.

While the Persona games have remained largely exclusive to PlayStation systems over the years, Persona publisher SEGA and developer Atlus have promised to spread their acclaimed JRPG series onto other consoles. Earlier this year, it was announced that the three latest mainline Persona titles would be coming to Xbox in their latest and most updated forms, starting with Persona 5 Royal. This came as a surprise to fans, as Persona 5 protagonist Joker's appearance as a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate lead many to believe that SEGA would bring the Persona series to the Nintendo Switch first. Sure enough, though, Persona 5 Royal is being ported to Xbox and PC this October, and now it's been confirmed that Nintendo Switch owners will get the chance to dive into the Metaverse as well.

The wait for Persona 5 to bring the long-running Persona series to Nintendo's line of consoles is finally coming to an end, as Persona 5 Royal’s Nintendo Switch port. Persona 5 Royal won’t be the only entry coming to Switch either, as Persona 4’s resident bear mascot Teddy then emerged to announce that Persona 4 Golden and Persona 3 Portable will follow at an undisclosed later date.

This new wave of Persona ports comes not too long after the 25th anniversary of the Persona series last year. While the festivities of this milestone celebration mainly consisted of HD remasters and ports of offshoots like Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, there are rumors that Atlus could announce a brand-new Persona game sometime later this year. Details are still scarce and nothing official has been announced, but many suspect this reveal will be made during the Persona Super Live P-Sound WISH 2022 Concert that will be held in October - not too long before the aforementioned Nintendo Switch port of Persona 5 Royal is set to release.

The Persona series has received consistently high review scores and is regarded as one of the best JRPG franchises of all time thanks to its mix of monster-taming, social simulation, and thought-provoking storytelling - and Nintendo gamers have been waiting a long time to enjoy the past few mainline entries. This wait will finally be over this fall with the release of Persona 5 Royal on the Nintendo Switch on October 21, with Persona 4 Golden and Persona 3 Portable coming later on.
