Dawn Stones are just one of many ways to evolve Pokémon in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl, and thankfully, the remakes even allow you to find one additional Dawn Stone that wasn't included in the original Diamond and Pearl. That being said, what hasn't changed between the original and the remakes is that only two Pokémon require the Dawn Stone for evolution.

In addition to the Dawn Stone, Diamond and Pearl introduced two other evolution stones: Dusk Stones and Shiny Stones. The Dawn Stone, in particular, provides two alternative final evolutions for Pokémon that previously had complete evolutionary lines, and both of them can come in handy when battling and beating the Elite Four.

Every Pokémon Who Use A Dawn Stone to Evolve

Use A Dawn Stone To Acquire Froslass & Gallade

Froslass and Gallade are the only Pokémon that evolve using Dawn Stones in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, but only under certain conditions. For Gallade, you need to use a Dawn Stone on a male Kirlia, while Froslass requires a Dawn Stone to be used on a female Snorunt.

Why Pokémon Diamond & Pearl Designs Were Reused From Gen 2

Designs from a 1997 beta of Pokémon Gold & Silver were modified for inclusion in Diamond & Pearl 9 years later. Not just Pokémon designs, either.

Both Pokémon are available in each version so everyone can get male Ralts, female Snorunt, and other rare Pokémon in the Grand Underground thanks to the Explorer Kit. That being said, you also have the chance to get Froslass and Gallade long before getting access to a Dawn Stone yourself in BDSP, thanks to Pachirisu's Pick-Up ability.

While male Kirlia and female Snorunt are required conditions for Gallade and Froslass, the same is not true in reverse. Male and female Kirlia can evolve into Gardevoir just like male and female Snorunts can evolve into Glalie. Therefore, even if you do not use a Dawn Stone, you'll still get the option to evolve, but it won't be the outcome you want, so it's not recommended to do it.

As long as a Pachirisu isn't already holding an item, the Pick-Up ability allows certain items to be found randomly outside of battle. For example, the Dawn Stone is one of the items Pachirisu can find with Pick Up, and after the Dawn Stone is found, players can remove the held item and put it in their bag to be used on Kirlia or Snorunt.

Once you've done that, head into the Mount Coronet entrance from Route 207, then travel south inside the mountain until players reach the body of water above the stairs. Then, Surf across the water to find a Dawn Stone on the other side.

The second Dawn Stone can be found in the Grand Underground near Snowpoint City. After going underground, head to the bottom-right Whiteout cave in this section of the map. The Dawn Stone is located on the left side of the cave in BDSP.
