The GO Battle League in Pokémon GO has again been updated with The Great League and Master League: Mega Edition next to take center stage. While The Great League has been a regular mainstay in PvP battles for some time in Pokémon GO, the Master League: Mega Edition is rare, with its own strategies required. Both are available for trainers to participate in from February 25, 2025, at 1 pm until 1 pm, March 4, 2025.
Like the other cups in Pokémon GO, both of this week's competitions have restrictions that limit the Pokémon you can use for each event. As with previous Great League Cups, you can only use Pokémon that are 1,500 or lower. The Master League: Mega Edition is open to all Pokémon regardless of . However, the change from the regular version of the event is that Mega Pokémon are also permitted. This means a change in the best teams from the Master League. Here are the best teams for both events.

Best Pokémon Team For The Great League and Master League: Mega Edition
Making The Most Of Mega Pokémon
Despite new debuts in Pokémon GO, the meta remains largely unchanged for The Great League. Some of the most dominant teams currently are Feraligatr, Clodsire, and Morpeko. The Gen 2 starter final evolution stage, Feraligatr, has continued to be one of the best individual options in The Great League for some time. It has good all-round stats and a variety of potential attacking moves, which can be tweaked depending on the teams you regularly face off against.
Any victories you gain in either cup will earn you wins towards your overall GO Battle League season rank, which provides further rewards following every five sets of battles.
I found it works well with Poison- and Ground-dual type Clodsire, which, due to its resistances, can be switched in against various opponents. Rounding out the team is pure Electric-type Morpeko. It is a great Pokémon to start with due to fast attacks that can quickly remove opposition shields.

Pokémon GO: Dynamax Darumaka Max Battle Guide (Max Mondays)
Dynamax Darumaka is an easy Pokémon to defeat in Pokémon GO, but with it being its debut in this form all trainers should attempt to catch it.
The Master League: Mega Edition is technically open to any Pokémon, but only the best have a chance in the meta. A large number of the best Pokémon available in Pokémon GO can be Mega evolved, making them even more powerful. Any Pokémon that can Mega evolve requires 200 mega energy to do so, with it then remaining in its Mega form for 24 hours.
You can only have one Pokémon in its Mega form at any time, so your team can only have a max of one Mega Pokémon.
Currently, I like ot use the strongest Mega Pokémon for the Master League, which is Mega RayquazaFlying-type Pokémon in Pokemon GO. It has a huge attack stat and can rip through opposition teams as a lead.
Two excellent allies for it are Ho-Oh and Xerneas. The Gen 2 Legendary Fire- and Flying-type remains one of the strongest attackers, along with Xerneas, who is the best Fairy-type in Pokémon GO. Between the three, they can cover all of the top meta Pokémon in the Master League.
Best Alternate Teams To Use During Great League and Master League: Mega Edition
Different Teams You Can Select
Most Pokémon can be used for the Great League if you have a good IV version. Azumarill remains a bulky Water-type with very few weaknesses and is super-effective against a number of the meta options with its Fairy-type attacks. Primeape has come out of nowhere in the last six months to lead the Great League in Fighting-types due to its powerful, fast attacks. Finally, Dark- and Flying-type Mandibuzz rounds out this bulky team as a key defensive option with high defense, stamina, and HP stats.

Pokémon GO: Road To Unova Event Guide
The Road to Unova event is a must play for trainers in Pokémon GO with a shiny debut, increased spawns and rare Pokémon available in raids.
For the Master League: Mega Edition, after Mega Rayquaza, there are two other main choices, at least one of which should be included in most teams. These are Groudon (Primal) and Mega Gyarados. Groudon is another powerhouse, while Gyarados has been one of the strongest Mega Pokémon available since they were introduced into Pokémon GO.
As Groudon isn't classed as a Mega Pokémon, both can be used in the same team. Psychic- and Steel-type Solgaleo works great as the third option for the team as it is super-effective against several of the first two Pokémon's weaknesses.
There are many options for teams in The Great League and The Master League: Mega Edition, but by selecting the best teams, you increase your chances of winning more matches in Pokémon GO.
