Dynamax Krabby is ing the likes of Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle as a Max Battles boss in the latest selection of Max Mondays launching in Pokémon GO, requiring you to make use of its weaknesses with the best counters to claim victory. While not as intimidating as the Gigantamax bosses, the 6-Star juggernauts that usually require at least 10 players to beat, Max Battle bosses can quickly take the unprepared by surprise. That's why it's always ideal to prepare a honed team with a selection of targeted movesets just in case.

There's a range of bosses old and new in this month's Max Mondays schedule for Pokémon GO. While we are once again seeing the three original Kanto starters take over all Max Battles on their respective featured days, newcomers like Krabby and Cryogonal are adding some variety to the weekly events for the month as well. Thankfully, the River Crab Pokémon has a certain range of vulnerabilities just like any other boss, making it a simple victory to obtain if you play your cards right, even if you are trying to go at it solo.

As a pure Water-type Pokémon, Dynamax Krabby has the same weaknesses as its base form in Pokémon GO: Grass- and Electric-type attacks. Hitting this massive crustacean with any one of these moves means you will inflict 160% damage compared to normal. What's more, you will be able to conflict more damage with the very important STAB bonus, also known as the same-type attack bonus, where you add on an extra 20% damage if an attack is used by a Pokémon of the same type.

To deplete a boss' health in raids within the limited time, utilizing a STAB bonus is an absolute must. Compared to its weaknesses, however, Krabby has a handful of resistances: Fire-, Ice,- Steel-, and Water-type attacks. Each of these attacks will only inflict 63% damage on Krabby compared to normal. Still, because you can only take Dynamax-capable or Gigantamax Pokémon with you into Max Raid Battles, you might need to pad out your team with a Water- or Ice-type to fill your team up, but you'll have plenty of options for counters to do most of the damage needed first.

Dynamax Krabby Best Counters In Pokémon GO

Prioritize Grass-Types

The best counters available in Pokémon GO to take on Dynamax Krabby are those that can use super-effective Grass- or Electric-type moves while still being Dynamax- or Gigantamax-capable, like Rillaboom, Venasaur, Ivysaur, Thwackey, and Toxtricity. These are all counters that can be caught as they are from previous Max Battles or Gigantamax battles or can be evolved from them with enough respective Candy. So, it's a great chance to make use of a Dynamax Bulbasaur you might have caught from its own Max Battle. Every counter and its best moveset can be found in the table below:

Because there is not a very massive pool of Pokémon in the game that can Dynamax or Gigantamax right now, not all the available counters will be able to get the STAB bonus using their ideal moveset. In addition, you will need to prioritize using Grass-type counters first, since Krabby's moveset, mostly Normal- and Water-type attacks, can include the Ground-type Mud Shot, making it super-effective against Electic-types like Toxtricity.

Date & Time Of The Krabby's Max Monday

Arriving Early December

The Max Monday for Krabby in Pokémon GO will be taking place on Monday, December 9 from 6:00 PM for one hour. That means it will be later ending at 7:00 PM. Keep in mind that this date and time are local time to all regions. That means you don't need to worry about converting anything to your local time zone.

Krabby is weak enough that you could likely beat it solo with the right Grass-type counter. However, you can take at least one other player with you if you think you might struggle.

If you end up struggling to beat Dynamax Krabby, though, you can also purchase Max Mushroom's from Pokémon GO's in-game shop to increase the damage your Pokémon deal for 30 minutes. These cost 400 PokéCoins each, or 1000 for three, but you can always save them for tougher battles if you don't need them. Just to target Dynamax Krabby's weaknesses for Grass- and Electric-type attacks, and you'll soon win this Pokémon GO Max Monday Max Battle with no problems.
