nerfed since a controversial launch, they remain incredibly tough to beat, with large groups of players required to have a chance. So far, eight have been added to the game, but the best potential Pokémon for battling so far is set to launch.
The Gigantamax Machamp Max Battle day will take place on Sunday, May 25, from 2pm to 5pm local time. During this period, only Gigantamax Machamp will be available in Power Spots throughout the Pokemon GO map, appearing much more frequently than any normal Max Battle would. While players on their own can defeat a number of Dynamax Max Battles, Gigantamax Battles, including Machamp are classed as tier 6 raids, meaning you will need to team up with other players. This makes it vital that you select the best counters to defeat Gigantamax Machamp.

Gigantamax Machamp Weaknesses & Resistance in Pokémon GO
Three Weaknesses To Help You Dominate The Battle
Normal and Dynamax Machamp are one of the best attackers in the game and remains a great option when taking on Team GO Rocket Leader Giovanni, with Gigantamax Machamp even more powerful. Due to its high tier, it will cost 800 Max Particles to take on Gigantamax Machamp. From previous experiences with Gigantamax battles, you need to have a team of at least ten players if you want to have a chance at victory, though you can with up to 39 other fellow Pokemon GO players.
All Gigantamax Battles are 6 Star Max Battles, making them currently the hardest raids in Pokémon GO.
Gigantamax Machamp is a pure Fighting-type Pokémon in Pokémon GO. This gives it three weaknesses: Flying-, Psychic-, or Fairy-type attacks. In Gigantamax Battles, you can only use fellow Gigantamax Pokémon or Dynamax Pokémon, which severely limits your options due to the low number of Pokémon that have been released in those forms.
In addition, Gigantamax Machamp takes reduced damage from Bug-, Dark- and Rock-type attacks. While you can use three Pokémon in your line-up you should avoid picking all of these types or you will leave yourself at a big disadvantage. Gigantamax Battles are similar to Dynamax Battles, but the team element is key. Making sure you and your fellow players have a balanced line-up is more important due to the HP of the Pokémon you are trying to defeat.
Gigantamax Machamp Best Counters In Pokémon GO
Metagross The Best Available Attacker
Despite the limited possible Pokémon you can use for this Gigantamax Max Battle, there are a number of Pokémon that are super-effective against it. Dynamax Metagross is the best possible attacker, as a dual Steel- and Psychic-type. To make it the most effective, ensure you set it up with the Fast Move Zen Headbutt, as this will give you a Fast Psychic-type attack in the battle, which is super-effective against Machamp.
Further attackers that have Flying-type moves are also super-effective against Machamp. The Legendary Generation One birds were introduced into Pokémon GO in Dynamax form earlier this year with Dynamax Moltres a great option for this battle. It can be given a number of Flying-type attacks with Wing Attack. Likewise, Dynamax Charizard can also be equipped with Flying-type attacks, including both Air Slash and Wing Attack.
It is better to use Dynamax Charizard than Gigantamax Charizard, as the latter only has Fire-type attacks available, which aren't super-effective against Machamp.
You can pick three Pokémon to use in each Gigantamax Max Battle, so it is a good idea to use two attacking Pokémon and either one Defender or one Healer. On top of the above attackers, the best defensive options are either Gigantamax Venusaur or Gigantamax Blastoise. For Healers, the best option remains Dynamax Blissey, even though it is weak to Machamp's attacks.
Gigantamax Machamp Max Battle Day Bonuses
A Host Of Rewards And Bonuses
The biggest reward is that if you and your fellow trainers can defeat it, you will get the chance immediately after to catch Gigantamax Machamp. It has a similar catch rate as standard legendary Pokémon, so you need to make sure you use Golden Berries to give you the best chance of catching one.
Despite the above, there are lots of bonuses during the event, which will increase your chances of successfully defeating and then catching Gigantamax Machamp. During the three hour event, Max Particle collection limit is increased to 1,600 with 8x Max Particles earned from visiting each Power Spot. Additionally, all Power Spots will host Gigantamax Battles during the event, as well as refreshing more frequently. Finally, following the addition of remote raids to Max Battle, the limit for the number of remote raid es you can use will be increased to 20.
Gigantamax Machamp can be found in its shiny version from Max Battles on Max Battles Day.
Further bonuses are set to reward players who take part in the Gigantamax Machamp Battle Day, headlined by all players receiving two additional special trades. Trainers will also receive 2x Max Particles whilst exploring and only need to travel 1/4 of the adventuring distance to receive Max Particles.
Ahead of the event you might have noticed Battle Day Lead-up Timed Research in your menus. These will give you a chance to obtain Dynamax Beldum, the first stage in the Metagross evolution line, as well as a host of candies to evolve it. If you haven't already got one, this is a great opportunity to get a powerful Dynamax Metagross, which is vital in trying to take down Gigantamax Machamp.

Pokémon GO: Dynamax Sableye Max Battle Guide (Max Mondays)
