In January 2025, Pokémon GO will introduce a new set of raid bosses. You can expect to see some strong Pokémon in tough 5-Star Raids. Like most five-star raids, these next raids will be incredibly challenging. This is an excellent month for those wanting to catch rare shiny Pokémon in Pokémon GO.
In addition to the strong 5-Star raids, there will also be many Mega raid bosses. What's cool is that you can face well-known Kanto Pokémon like Machop, Gastly, Krabby, and Squirtle during Max raids. With this variety of raid battles, planning ahead and deciding which Pokémon you want to catch is a good idea. December's Raid schedule was great, and it looks like January will continue to be good.

Mega Raid Bosses In January 2025
Who You Face In Mega Raids
Throughout January 2025, there will be three Mega Raid Bosses for you to face in Pokémon GO. The first is Mega Lopunny, followed by Mega Gallade, and then Mega Medicham. Some months have more to face, but fewer Pokémon means more opportunities to face them. These will each have a chance of being shiny, so you could get very lucky.

While Mega Lopunny doesn't have many weaknesses, the one weakness is fighting, which is not hard to find in Pokémon GO. The other two have flying as a main weakness, which is also easier to find. This should be a much easier month to get the raids done.
Despite not looking like much, Mega Raid Bosses are some of the toughest enemies in Pokémon GO. Some players like to take them on alone because that's cool, but it's not the easiest. Instead, a group of other players and fight them yourself. My first mega raid win had 20 players together, and I was the weakest, but a group of six or more should be good.
Max Raid Bosses In January 2025
The Bosses Players Take On In Max Raids
It feels like Pokémon GO keeps switching from the Kanto region to the Galar region, but it seems like that's how things are going right now. You're going to see a lot of Kanto region Pokémon coming in this month, but that may change as more Pokémon are revealed as the month goes on.

Pokémon GO: Holiday Part 2 Event Guide
Pokémon GO's Holiday Part 2 Event will be here soon, so it's a good idea for trainers to catch up on a guide so they know what to expect.
Keep in mind that some Pokémon get revealed for a limited time as the month goes on. So, there may be chances of getting other Pokémon that haven't been announced. This happened before during raids in October 2024 and will likely happen in January. However, it's always best to be prepared even if it doesn't.
Shadow Raid Bosses In January 2025
A Rarely Used Shadow Boss
In January, you can battle Shadow Registeel in special raids on weekends. This Legendary Shadow Pokémon will only be available during these events, so make sure to prepare if you want a chance to catch it. Also, that you can't use Remote Raid es for these Shadow Raids. While it doesn't seem like much, it's a great thing to do if you're tired of the above-mentioned raids.
Make sure to get a bunch of Purified Gems if you want to Shadow Raids. These gems are important for calming down the angry Shadow Pokémon you’ll face. You can create Purified Gems by combining four Shadow Shards, which you get by defeating Team GO Rocket grunts and Shadow Raid Bosses.
Shadow Registeel is a powerful Steel-type Pokémon. Its improved Shadow form makes it powerful, but it still has weaknesses. Registeel's weaknesses stem from its Steel typing because it's heavily susceptible to Fire, Fighting, and Ground-type attacks. A raid team focused on these types would be smart. Despite its high defense, exploiting these weaknesses will help you chip away at its health. that Shadow Pokémon's defense is lowered as its offense is raised. So powerful moves of these types will quickly drain its health bar in Pokémon GO.
