The long-awaited DLC for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet has now been revealed as part of Pokémon Day 2023. Taking place on the anniversary of Pokémon Red and Green’s release, a new Pokémon Direct revealed a variety of new updates to mobile games and releases. This included intriguing details regarding Pokémon Scarlet and Violet DLC expansions and release date windows.

The final announcement of the Pokemon Direct broadcast on The Official Pokémon YouTube Channel revealed a two-part DLC expansion package coming to Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC is comprised of The Teal Mask, set for a Fall 2023 release date, and The Indigo Disk, which will follow in Winter 2023.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s new DLC will add new Pokémon, characters, and storylines to the games, and will even introduce players to some brand-new locations. The Teal Mask will bring players to a new region called Kitakami as part of a school trip. Here, they will take part in an event that appears to be inspired by Japanese festivals. In addition to new characters Kieran and Carmine, four Pokémon will be introduced; the masked Legendary Pokémon Ogerpon, and the heroic trio Okidogi, Munkidori, and Fezandipiti. Other Pokémon including Ninetails and Milotic will also become available. Next, in The Indigo Disk, players will come face to face with the Legendary Pokémon of Area Zero, Terapagos, while visiting the battle-focussed Blueberry Academy as an exchange student. Additionally, more Pokémon will again be added, including Metagross and Zebstrika.

Alongside the main Pokémon Scarlet and Violet DLC, various pieces of bonus content will also be available to early purchasers of the expanions. For example, for those who purchase The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero by October 31 2023, a Hisuian Zoroark with the event-exclusive move Happy Hour will be available to . This Zoroark also has the Dark Tera type and a Charismatic Mark. In addition to this, a new set of uniforms is also now available with a purchase of the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet DLC, which includes a new look for every season. Similarly, a Traditional Jinbei outfit and the Blueberry Academy uniform will become available with their respective DLC part.

Although the announcement for Scarlet and Violet DLC was somewhat expected as part of the Pokémon Day 2023 celebrations, this news is nonetheless incredibly exciting. The new settings which will soon be coming to Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are entirely unexpected, with many having instead expected an announcement related to Kalos as some leaks have suggested. Similarly, while Terapagos was already known to exist thanks to in-game content which suggested the existence of a Legendary Pokémon hiding in Area Zero, there was nothing hinting toward Ogerpon. It seems Pokémon Scarlet and Violet players will be having many exciting encounters when The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC expansions release later this year.
