Although originally sporting a solitary chest at its center, the site now leads to an information hub for Gimmighoul and a video from The Official Pokémon YouTube channel featuring Professor Willow and Mr. Jacq speculating about its mysterious origins. Gimmighoul resembles a ghostly bug with antennae and appears to be a newly discovered Pokémon that has two forms - one that hides in treasure chests waiting to ambush people in search of coins, and one that roams the world with a single coin on its back in search of new hiding places.

From brief sightings on minimaps to possibly unintentional appearances in trailers, those who have been keeping an eye on each announcement for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet have been kept entertained with glimpses of Pokémon that have not officially been announced. Although these leaks have proven to be reliable, the official reveals of Paldea’s new Pokémon have been increasingly engaging leading up to the game's release. These, of course, include Gimmighoul’s ARG-like website tease and the faux livestream from the new Electric-type Gym Leader, Iono, which revealed another new Scarlet and Violet Pokémon, Bellibolt.
The reveal of Gimmighoul shows that Pokémon Scarlet and Violet still has plenty of surprises before its release on November 18.
