Now, The Pokémon Company has announced a new code distribution event for Mew in Scarlet and Violet. This means that players will be able to obtain the rare Mythical Pokémon for free in the Gen 9 games. This Gen 1 creature’s presence in Paldea is related to an event, in which it will be used by Trainers to defeat a menacing Mewtwo in a Tera Raid event. Players who are able to defeat Mewtwo will then be able to capture it, which comes with the Mightiest Mark.
Free Mew Code For Pokémon Scarlet & Violet
As was announced by The Pokémon Company in a special Pokémon Presents event held on the official Pokémon channel on YouTube, a free Mew is being given out through a Mystery Gift code distribution event. Available now up until September 18, players can type in the special GETY0URMEW code in the game’s Mystery Gift feature to obtain a copy of the Mythical Pokémon without having to do anything else. The Tera Type, Nature, and moveset of the offered Mew will vary from Trainer to Trainer. To accurately redeem the free Mew in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, players need only follow the steps listed below:
- Connect the Nintendo Switch console to the internet.
- Boot Pokémon Scarlet and Violet through the Nintendo Switch’s main menu.
- Press “X” to open the Main Menu.
- Press “L” to connect the game to the internet.
- Access the “Poké Portal” through the Main Menu screen.
- Inside the Poké Portal, access the Mystery Gift feature.
- Select “Get with Code/”.
- Type in the GETY0URMEW.
- Select the Mythical Pokémon Mew Gift option.
- Receive the free Mew through the Mystery Gift feature.
As was aforementioned, the free Mew in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will come with a randomized Tera Type, Nature, and set of moves. They will, however, all be at level 5. The idea is for players to carefully train and mold the creature into a solid counter option for the Mewtwo Tera Raids, which will be held between September 1 and September 17. The special Mewtwo will have a Psychic Tera Type. Nintendo explains that players who face Mewtwo in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet with the special Mew will get “something special”, though it is currently unknown what the exact nature of that is.
