Although Marowak EX may not seem like the strongest option for a battle deck in Pokémon TCG Pocket, there are several reasons why it might be worth building one. Aside from being a unique option, since the most common deck options are MewTwo Ex, Pikachu EX, and Starmie EX, a fighting deck is an excellent counter to Pikachu EX.

Not only is it a great counter to one of the most common decks, but it's one of the only real options. The Mewtwo deck is primarily weak to dark, and it has no EX card in Pokémon TCG Pocket, making it a risky option to build a deck around. Meanwhile, the Starmie EX deck is primarily weak to Electric/Lightning damage, but that just leads back to using Pikachu EX.

Best Cards For a Marowak EX Deck In Pokémon TCG Pocket

Use Marowak EX To Defeat Some Of The Strongest Decks In The Game

Marowak EX is, unfortunately, based largely around coin flips, which might be a deal-breaker for some players. Simply put, you could destroy another deck in a handful of moves or be put in a terrible position. However, despite the luck involved, the Marowak EX deck is still worth the risk. If your coin flips go your way, you'll be able to take out most decks before they even have the chance to set up, making it well worth the handful of bad games you might experience in exchange.

Use this Zapdos deck in Pokémon TCG Pocket to get the very best out of the potential of the Electric-typing in the game's current meta.

When it comes to building the deck itself, you'll need to begin with the star of the deck, Marowak EX. Ideally, you want to have two EX cards in any given deck before you use it for battle, so you'll want to either pull two Marowak EX from the MewTwo Genetic Apex Booster Packs or purchase them using your pack points. There are two versions of Marowak EX in Pokémon TCG Pocket, with one being rarer than the other, but the only difference is the art, so either option works.

If you're missing cards, see if you can complete some missions from Solo Battles or your daily challenges to earn some more Hourglasses, or at the very least, Shop Tickets to purchase more Pokémon TCG Pocket Hourglasses. There's no need to spend money to build this deck.

Outside of Marowak EX, you'll want to focus the deck around other fighting types with a handful of Item and er cards mixed in as well. You have a few options for this based on preference. Alongside your Marowak EX, you can either opt for a Diglett & Dugtrio addition or a Kabuto & Kabutops addition. Both are strong contenders and honestly, I'd recommend that you make your decision based on what cards you have. If you have both, give both versions a shot and see what you like more.

Option 1: Diglett & Dugtrio

This is the most common Marowak EX deck you'll see people using, primarily because, despite its seemingly weak appearance, Dugtrio has the chance to nullify the damage done to it completely. Furthermore, if you can manage to take down an opponent using Dugtrio, then you don't run the risk of your opponent gaining two points for taking out your EX Pokémon in Pokémon TCG Pocket.

While this is a great deck if it works in your favor, it adds even more coin-flip risk to a deck already relying heavily on it. Therefore, it will be up to you whether you think the potential reward is worth the risk or prefer a more reliable option like Kabuto and Kabutops.

Option 2: Kabuto & Kabutops

This second option is a little less powerful but doesn't have nearly the same risk as the Diglett & Dugtrio option. This means that while you may need to strategize a bit more with this option, you're more likely to have more overall wins if you learn to use it properly.

For this variant of the Marowak EX deck, you're almost guaranteed to begin with Cubone since it will be the only Basic Pokémon in your deck. From there, you can evolve into a Marowak, which requires a single energy to start dealing damage, or Marowak EX, if possible, for even more damage. Using the Dome Fossil prevents other basic Pokémon from getting in your way with the added benefit of getting you to Kabutops, who packs a heavy punch, has a solid HP, and has the ability to heal itself.

Pokémon TCG Pocket is out-pacing Pokémon GO's daily revenue by a significant pace, but can the new mobile game keep up that momentum in the longterm?

Regardless of which variant of the Marowak ex deck you choose, you will be more than prepared to take on the meta decks, especially Pikachu ex. Also, don't be scared to experiment with customizing a fighting deck around Marowak ex, especially because you can always test it out in the Solo Battles until you get a feel for it. Often, the decks that trip opponents up in Pokémon TCG Pocket battles are the unique underdog decks that they're not expecting.
