The card that makes this deck tick is Leafeon ex, an incredibly exciting Grass-type Pokémon with a useful special ability. Available in the Arceus Pack from the Triumphant Light expansion, Leafeon ex offers exceptional synergy with Energy acceleration strategies, allowing you to power up attacks quickly. Its ability, “Forest Breath,” lets you take a Grass Energy from your Energy Zone and attach it to one of your Grass-type Pokémon, as long as Leafeon ex is in the Active Spot. This allows you to attack with the ex card while powering another strong Pokémon on the bench.

Including fewer Pokémon in your deck creates more space for valuable er cards, allowing for stronger synergy and more consistent strategies. This helps avoid a cluttered deck with Pokémon that may not work well together, reducing the risk of drawing ineffective hands.

Leafeon ex also has an exceptional attack. "Solar Beam" deals 70 damage for three energy—one Grass Energy and two Colorless Energy. This is relatively quick when its ability is considered, allowing you to attach two Energy in one turn if needed. It also has a decent 140 HP, giving you enough durability to last the length of the battle.

Though this does rely heavily on RNG, more often than not, this will do substantial damage.

For an optimal start in a Pokémon TCG Pocket battle, you should place Eevee in the Active Spot and Celebi ex on the bench. You should then commit your first energy to Eevee. Eevee’s attack “Continuous Steps” allows you to flip a coin until you get tails. This attack does 20 damage for each heads that you flip. I have found it is better to Protect Celebi ex on the bench until it has significant energy. You can also place your other Eevee on the bench if this is in your first hand.

You are limited to playing only one er card per turn, so choose wisely to maximize its impact on your strategy.

At the earliest opportunity, you should evolve Eevee into Leafeon ex, using Professor’s Research to pull the evolution. You may need to apply an Erika, which heals Grass-types by 50 damage if Eevee has sustained any damage. With Leafeon ex in play and in the Active Spot, you can use “Forest Breath” to start charging Celebi ex’s attack. You may also want to attach the Rocky Helmet to Leafeon ex to start dealing ive damage.

One unique aspect of this deck that may make some players apprehensive is its use of both Grass Energy and Water Energy. However, this dual-energy setup is surprisingly effective. Since Leafeon ex only requires one Grass Energy, Eevee can use any Energy, and Celebi ex also only needs a single Grass Energy, Water Energy can be incorporated seamlessly across the deck without disrupting its flow. This is to take advantage of TCG Pocket's Irida er card. It heals 40 damage from each of your Pokémon that has any Water Energy attached to it.

Now you can use “Forest Breath” to charge Celebi ex’s massive attack while protecting every Pokémon in play. When ready, you can retreat Leafeon ex, place Celebi ex in the Active Spot, and use the RNG-based attack to finish off the opponent. This makes for a powerful strategy in Pokémon TCG Pocket.
