With the recent video game release of Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG). That wait is almost over now that The Pokémon Company International has finally announced an official date for when these cards will hit the stores, plus revealing a special preorder bonus. The new expansion will be available in booster packs, Elite Trainer Boxes, and special collections.
The new Pokémon TCG: Scarlet and Violet expansion cards have been beautifully designed with full-art etched cards and bright colors with the Pokémon in simple poses. The cards show the Pokémon with images of them in their natural environments with fun information on each of their unique personalities and habits. Additionally, there will be an updated version of the Pokémon ex cards which differs from the ones in Black and White and XY by including Pokémon that are Basic, Stage 1, or Stage 2 rather than all Basic.
Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet Expansion Releases March 31, 2023
The worldwide launch for the Pokémon TCG: Scarlet and Violet expansion will take place on March 31, 2023, and boxes are live to pre-order now with a special Lechonk promo card from Pokémon TCG: Scarlet and Violet ex cards revealed so far, including Koraidon and Miraidon.
The New Pokémon Expansion Introduces Tera Pokémon Ex
One of the exciting features of the Scarlet and Violet video games was the new mechanic, the Terastal Phenomenon, which offered a large combat bonus to Pokémon for a battle when they have terastallized. This expansion to the Pokémon TCG will build on that idea by introducing new Tera Pokémon ex cards with unique artwork showing off their Tera types. These cards will utilize the same Pokémon ex rules, however, these Tera Pokémon will be protected from taking any damage while on the Bench.
The new Scarlet and Violet expansion cards will be making a splash with their bright, colorful designs when they arrive on March 31, 2023. The graphic design for this era tends to be a brighter feel, with silver borders and a raised appearance in areas giving a 3D effect. Overall the cards in the Pokémon TCG: Scarlet and Violet set look impressive, and the new Tera Pokémon ex mechanic should add a bit more fun with the new dynamic added to the overall gameplay.
