Summary
- The World Championships stage in Hawaii showcases various Pokémon, including obscure choices like Luvdisc.
- The stage is full of small details often missed by viewers but appreciated by competitors and staff.
- Specific Pokémon like Lapras, Squirtle, Charmander, and Cramorant are carefully placed to reflect the Hawaiian theme.
The Pikachu is an iconic staple and isn't going anywhere, there are often a few obscure choices included too based on the region hosting the event - for instance, Luvdisc is pretty prominently featured in this year's media.
During this year's events, Screen Rant was able to attend a private viewing of the World Championships 2024 stage. It was a little surprising to see how many small details get added to it that might be completely missed by viewers - there's a lot there that would normally only be seen by competitors and staff as a bonus. Luckily, we snagged pictures of every detail on the Pokémon stage in Honolulu - here's what you might have missed.

The Pokémon World Championships 2024's Most Underrated Event Is Worth The Wait
The Pokémon World Championships 2024 offers a lot of extras if you know where to look, and Ditto Draft is a perfect example.
These Pokémon Placed Beside A Sailboat
Hearthflame Mask Ogrepon & Crustle
Two appropriate Pokémon kick off our investigation of the World Championships 2024 stage, as Hearthflame Mask Ogrepon reflects the heat of the beach in Honolulu, Hawaii (as we can attest to!) Crustle is a bit more of an interesting choice, though it's really not a surprise to see it inhabiting a beach. As long as it isn't walling us off from our Unite objectives, it's welcome.
An Easy-to-Miss Silhouette Of A Fan Favorite
Lapras Appears on Stage
One of the most subtle and gorgeous elements of the Pokémon World Championships 2024 stage is this Lapras, which adorns the backdrop behind some of the other depictions of Pokémon. Lapras is one of the most well-known Water-types and even just the silhouette is instantly recognizable. It's hard to imagine a better Water-type to represent the more relaxed pace and ocean views of Honolulu.
Two Smaller Pokémon Hide Out In The Shade
Squirtle & Lechonk
This Squirtle's red eyes are extremely unsettling and I have a lot of questions about why he seems so laser-focused. However, just behind the main stage center and near the Lapras, Squirtle and Lechonk are seated enjoying the local specialties while hiding out from the blazing sun.

How Close Pokémon's Ash Actually Got To Catching Them All
With Ash's era of the Pokémon anime over and done, just how many Pokémon did Ash have by the end, and was it even remotely close to catching them all?
One Of The Most Iconic Basics Chills Out On The Beach
Charmander & Pawmi
If there's one Pokémon built for the Hawaiian weather, it's Charmander. Not only is the Fire-type a borderline necessity on these stages because of how familiar it is, but its tail is a bit similar to a lit Tiki Torch. Pawmi, on the other hand, appears just happy to be there near the surfboards, though it'd be shocking if it were able to muster the center of gravity and weight distribution required to ride a wave correctly.
A Broken Pokémon Unite Speedster Perches Ominously
Cramorant
The less said about Cramorant the better, at least if you've got a similar fear of it from Pokémon Unite and the TCG in Lost Box. While it's solely responsible for some of our most devastating defeats in two different Pokémon games, it's also hiding out on the World Championships stage, presumably looking to do some more damage whenever it gets the chance.

Pokémon’s Gen 10 Games Can Solve The Series’ Biggest Starter Problem
Pokémon’s Generation 10 games would easily revitalize starter Pokémon if they were to bring one pervasive trend within the series to an end.
Two More Obscure Choices Hide Out On The Mountain
Lilligant & Gholdengo
I'll be honest - it took me a second to distinguish Lilligant from Bellossom, even with the latter also all over the place in advertising for this event. Gholdengo is hiding out behind the background making it rain, marking one of the more recent Pokémon to be added to the Honolulu crew on the World Championships 2024 stage.
Screen Rant was invited to the Pokémon World Championships 2024 as part of its North American media tour.
